    Is Tendulkar's career now "complete"?

Perhaps my choice of words was a little over-enthusiastic and I apologize.. Obviously amateur or amateurish is applicable to the likes of Kallis, Laxman, Ponting Waugh etc etc. It was never my intent to begin a statistical debate over Tendulkar v other players of his era. However, I still...

    Is Tendulkar's career now "complete"?

All of the above. 8-) All though I think Lara can rest easy that his 400 will be safe.

What will Kirsten do for South Africa?

Would love it if he came to Australia and worked some of his magic on our team. Nielsen is just a YES man, too busy trying to be "one of the lads" rather than actually coach. I think he comprehensively lost the battle of wills with Ponting. We need a coach who can compete with the ego's of...

    Is Tendulkar's career now "complete"?

 I'd still queue up to buy it. Sachin has to go down as the best player of the modern era. He is just one of those generational athletes like Tiger Woods, Michael Schumacher, Lance Armstrong, Michael Jordan etc who comes along and makes everybody else look like amateurs. Record...

Ricky Ponting steps down as Captain (Updated)

Agreed Spark. Buchanan had some good ideas that paid off but near the end of his coaching tenure I think he may have begun to lose the plot. As for Cooley I have a sneaking suspicion that he may not be everything we had hoped he would be. Personally I would rather see someone approach the...

Ricky Ponting steps down as Captain (Updated)

Howard, very much looking forward to your recommendations. I admit my little 'essay' was written as much from the heart as it was from the head and as such contains 'recommendations' which may seem a little far-fetched if not totally s**t. Have you looked at unified coaching standards at the...

Players you hated at first, but now love?

In my youth I had a steady dislike for the entire West Indies cricket team. They were just too good. Have developed a more than healthy appreciation for them now. For a while the New Zealand cricket team under Fleming had me red with rage. They always punched above their weight and were like...

Australia Announce New Captain and Vice Captain

Thank you, I was under the impression that mine did too. :)

    *Official* Australia in Bangladesh

I know that after the Ashes everyone was banging the "Youth" and "lets experiment" drum but ultimately the role of the selectors is to pick the best 11 available irrespective of age etc. I'm not a 100% sure they've done this (eg White) for the Bangladesh tour but it looks like they are trying.

Australia Announce New Captain and Vice Captain

8-) I will again admit that this was written from the heart and not the head. That some of it may be simply too far fetched, too cumbersome or simply too full of ^$&@. Still I think the team at least has some potential.

Australia Announce New Captain and Vice Captain

I posted this on another forum just after The Ashes. Reading through it in a calmer state of mind I admit to cringing at a few of my ideas but I'd like to think by and large there are some good ideas in there on the future direction of Australian cricket. I also thought Ponting would be thrown...

    *Official* Australia in Bangladesh

I wonder if his issue with strike rotation is due to the fact that he is not aware of it, or because he cannot get bat on ball. One of the first times I saw him is when he gave Shane Bond a good touch up. 23 off one over. He was a slugger but still exciting to watch. Could he be the same as...

    *Official* Australia in Bangladesh

To paraphrase the Simpsons I see White as "the answer to a question that was never asked". His form in the WC was woeful. The spinners had him figured out and I agree with Dean Jones critique that he needs immediate and sustained work on his technique. Selectors axe poised over out of form...

Australia Announce New Captain and Vice Captain

Two very good posts Spark. When I first saw Watson he appeared to me as nothing more than a pretty boy more interested in his hair and his appearance rather than his cricket. I am very, very glad to have been proved wrong and in this instance I give all due credit to the selectors who...

Australia Announce New Captain and Vice Captain

If Cosgrove can lose 20kg in the next 12 months the selectors will automatically line him up as Australia's captain after Clarke. Their reasoning being that if he can do that he can do anything.
