Is Dhoni greatest OdI cricketer off all-time

If I may weigh in on this absorbing debate, I'd suggest that Gilly & MSD are just about equal on raw batting talent alone. Gilly was always so effortless-looking/graceful in his strokeplay & was usually a good judge of which shot to play to particular deliveries. MSD on the other hand was such a...

Your favorite batsman to watch bat!!!

For me, BC Lara will never be surpassed. Highlights of his classic digs have infinite rewatchablilty. Viv would come a close second, even if he was before my time. I once read a lovely description of Viv's batting that really resonated with me. Went something like: "Viv didn't just hit the...

*Official* West Indies Tour of England 2020

I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm really excited at the Windies' chance of retaining the Wisden trophy here. Really, really glad to see Jermaine Blackwood stepping up to the plate as I never quite agreed with the bad wrap he got when he first appeared on the international scene.

Shakib Al Hasan vs Rashid Kahn

This is true of many spinners in our day & age, particularly because they can look like a million dollars when bowling in T20 for the reasons you mentioned, and look rather toothless in Tests comparatively. Rashid is arguably the finest bowler of the googly in the world at the moment, & I'm sure...

What are the best moments in the world of cricket history?

Although it really isn't spoken about all that much, South Africa in 1935 becoming only the second nation to defeat England in England is quite significant. And of course, the famous West Indian triumph in 1950.

Shakib Al Hasan vs Rashid Kahn

Apparently Rashid started out as an opening batsman and then went on to focus solely on his bowling, as of late it seems he's been working on his batting once again.

Shakib Al Hasan vs Rashid Kahn

Interestingly I don't think Rashid's action would work without his pace. Since he holds the ball with the top of his fingers & doesn't really use his wrist to spin the ball, I imagine the thrust he gets from his action helps him spin the ball immensely.

ICC Emerging Nations Trophy (Sim League X)

I'll have to take a look at Viljoen's rating when I get home & let you know how good he was in comparison to your other players. All things considered, I thought Namibia was one of the standout teams in the comp. They were always going to have it tough, but pulling off wins against the Combined...

ICC Emerging Nations Trophy (Sim League X)

You certainly did a good job at selecting your squad then considering you didn't know all that much about a few of the Afghani players. I think you did a very good job at identifying which was your strongest XI as the comp progressed. Bad luck to Kraken in the final, who didn't really put a foot...

ICC Emerging Nations Trophy (Sim League X)

14 wickets from Rashid seals the deal! Congrats to Teuton for taking out the 10th version of the ICC Sim League. Also, massive, massive thanks to everyone who participated in this comp. For one reason or another, this has been my very favourite edition of the Sim League, the whole thing was...
