marc, doesnt this remind you of AA's fine innings at Lords :) lost cause, tired bowlers and all. Terrific knock by Flintoff. Refreshing and must have been highly entertaining too. Happy Ntini delivered too. Always held him to be a top performer.

Tosser? Looks like the only guy in SA team with some guts. Boucher said he'd have turned down his country's captaincy  Smith took it on. I have no idea why SA'ans diss him like anyone else. You've got to give him credit for standing up to be counted when the team was in a low phase...

    ICC explains it all.

Most of the criticism from Indians because when the crappy rankings came out India was the country which got the rawest deal. Simple that. You wont hear too many complaints after our ODI season is underway. Then it will be our turn to listen to someone else... From my side anyway, this was a...

what a pity that 'someone' near the bottom could be someone else every two-four matches! So everyone has their joyride :D

Well.. you're playing at home, SA'ans have been jittery in the recent past (though thats probably in the ODIs) and whats more, you've got rain on your side :D

    Now that's entertainment!

I'm torn here between Walsh, Murali and Harbhajan :D

Ofcourse. This is just an academic discussion. I dont pay attention to rankings ('official' or otherwise  ) . You are right in saying that one can punch holes in any rating system. But this one is zanier than most. I pointed out the reason in my earlier post. The funniest part of it...

    ICC explains it all.

If India wins those two matches and becomes no. 3, will we have all of a sudden played the better opposition? or not played crappy nations ! overnight.. Seriously, these rankings are poorly conditioned. More than the principles behind them (strenght of opposition etc.) there's some problem in...

Naah I wouldnt say that about Kallis either. I do think Ntini is a very good bowler, and better than any of his English counterparts. Though I do think he's a nasty fellow :P

    ICC explains it all.

Yup! that was so ridiculous (from teh ICC) that I thought it deserves repetition :D ::sigh:: if only we'd played 7 matches against Australia and lost all seven... I can understand how you consider the strength of the opposition you won against. But if A, B, and C are all going to lose to D...

I wasn't speaking in terms of this test alone. I considered Jacques Kallis in there. Pollock is a few notches better than anyone in the English attack. Ntini too, IMO, is better than any of the English bowlers operating currently. Gough was a class bowler. But he's not been around for a while...
