    Hashan Tillakaratne Vs Jimmy Adams

 at the poll. Jimmy Adams at his peak was nigh-on impossible to dismiss, though for half of his career he wasn't really a Test-class batsman, so despite his mediocre away record, some poor years and generally easier wickets, I'd probably pick Tillakaratne. Neither were ODI-standard batsmen.

Battle of Cricketers - CW's Favorite Cricketer

Johnson, because I'm biased. :p Not that I have anything against Hadlee. He was NZ's best ever quick and has conducted himself in an exemplary manner off the field, too. Ervine was a talented cricketer, though I'm unsure what he's doing these days. As for Richards, he was a fine batsmen, but...

    Kane Williamson

I know of him - he's probably NZ's closest thing to a batting prodigy. BTW, welcome to the forum (if you aren't a multi or some such).

Sorry, Clapo. From this time forth (i.e - from the time I've posted this), I'll refrain from mentioning her.

    Kane Williamson

Is his spelling synchronised with his accent?

    England Since 1990 XI

My opinion: - GA Gooch (a batsman who proved himself over three decades, even though he was rarely at his best against Australia - thanks partially to Alderman - and shouldn't have gone to Australia in '94/95) - AJ Strauss (better technique and record than Trescothick and has shown an ability to...

    Akthar or Thomson?

Well, both were very similar in some ways: they were both arguably the quickest bowlers of their generations at their peak and both had freakish actions which made them all the more disconcerting. At their peak, each was utterly magnificent and could rip through any team, on any surface, at any...

    *Official* Australia in New Zealand

Poor cricket from NZ - not really a single there. Great footwork from Mitch, though.

Well, it can be during a collapse. Really bold declaration this, though maybe I shouldn't be all that surprised. Taylor aside, the NZ top order isn't that great and Johnson seems to like facing them. Hope it doesn't backfire, though. North badly needed this knock, but good on him for getting it.

I don't know whether that reflects on Bingle well. Given how irresponsible she appears to be, that means that Michael Clarke has had to adopt a more mature, less impetuous outlook on life to try and maintain their relationship. Yes, I agree - what he said was classy and considerate. I don't...

    Michael Clarke Discussion thread

Oh, I'm not denying that it was classy and considerate - I just don't think that she really deserves it, that's all.

    What Happened To Ajantha Mendis?

Not by itself, but if he uses his variations wisely with his stock delivery, he'll be more difficult to face over the longer term than if he doesn't develop one at all.

    Greatest Indian Bowler 1.1

    Second this.

    What Happened To Ajantha Mendis?

Maybe not so much in ODI's and T20's, but it is much more advisable to develop a stock delivery if you want to be a long-term Test bowler, rather than a sideshow.

You're right, generally speaking - but the Ponting dismissal in particular had very little to do with the bowling and was still poor cricket. Hughes' dismissal was him going hell bent for leather and edging it after scoring boundary after boundary - it didn't have all that much to do with the NZ...
