a) He did nothing wrong
b) There was no guarantee he would have been out had he not collided with Sidebottom.

But what I will always remember from that incident is Benson putting his arms around Collingwood.
Err he caused the collision and was a decent chance of being run out anyway. The collision was entirely his fault, why should he benefit?

Yeah, he caused the collision by trying to get out of Sidebottom's way and being hemmed in by his batting partner.

There was no way the run out was going to be a gentle throw over the stumps if he wasn't bowled over. And there's a decent chance he would have been running in a line between the stumps and the person throwing the ball for at least part of the time making it a little harder.

Seems like most people can see that.

Sidebottom ran towards the ball. He went directly to ball. He didn't collect 200 dollars. He did not pass Go.

Elliot ran into that path. Simple. HIS FAULT.

Awww poor itsi bitsy Scaly Waily, an NZer (ish) in the right and Twinky Colly Wolly was.....wrong.

On topic: If Strauss really did use a runner for cramp then come out and say that, then thats pretty dumb.

Don't mind Smith calling for the runner. if you're unable to run (didn't see the game tbf but) then get a runner. Logical to me.

As long as he didn't turn around and moan if opposition in future want one.
