Well, the media will find out that Chappell told Martyn to push Pawar, and so they'll get back to burning Chappell effigies

In other news, effigies of Martyn to be burnt in the street?
Apparently, the fans on the street are getting more creative these days.
One clip showed them painting a (real) donkey with Aussie colors and Martyn's name on his back.

Haha, I can't believe people here are beating this up as well. I expected it from cricket media, but not from posters here.

The Australian team wanted to pose with the trophy for pictures, as there was a horde of people with cameras in front of the podium. Pawar was standing in the way and looking like he wasn't sure what to do. Martyn nudged him so he would get out of the way. Pawar laughed the incident off.

That's all there is to it, people. If it happened in Australia, not only would people not get offended, I doubt it would even be reported on. It's such a non-issue it's unbelievable.

I agree with nearly all of that. IMO, Martyn's nudge was more than just a nudge and there was a more courteous and respectful way to get Pawar out of the way.
He certainly didn't commit an outrageous act or anything close to it, though. Hence, I called it virtually a non-issue.

I think the only way to truly resolve this is for Today Tonight to do a National phone poll.

You can never say nobody will be offended.

But we're talking about a country where an earlier PM put his hand on the queen's ass, and around half the population thought that was cool (and funny). And that's a far more serious breach of protocol than this could ever be.
Well, the reason why asked because the reaction of majority of aussie members here seems little inconsistent to me esp with my exp in the past at other forums. When Ganguly made Steve Waugh wait for the toss, almost all the aussies I interacted with (on internet forums ofcourse) were of the opinion that how dare Ganguly made a legend like Waugh wait for toss and in a way being arrogant and blah.

Oh and I do think queen ass grab was funny as hell.

Yeah exactly he could've found a better way to tell him to get out the way and the way Ponting was pointing out to hand the trophy over certainly wasn't very mature but like i said not as big of a deal as the media is making it out to be.

Haha, maybe. I wasn't around back when that happened. But even though Gangs did annoy me at times, I actually admire his ability to get under the opposition's skin, and I've often likened him to Ian Chappell in that regard (and I don't think there's any question that it's what he was doing with Waugh, and it was working). And there's definitely a difference between a sporting gripe (comments in a forum can often be quite obsessive about minutae) and what is being described in the Indian press as some kind of diplomatic incident. But really, the clearest distinction between the two events would be that this one wasn't even supposed to get up anybody's nose, and I think it was all pretty good-natured.

The guy is the biggest jerk in cricket, I think.

The Aussies could have behaved a little better but then again, I put Ponting in the category of AB in that they believe in being jerks on the field. So, there goes.

Anyways, this incident has been blown way out of proportion.
