Not confirmed yet, but the likely squad:

Brian Lara (captain)
Ramnaresh Sarwan (vice captain)
Carlton Baugh (wicketkeeper)
Chris Gayle
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Wavell Hinds
Runako Morton
Marlon Samuels
Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Smith
Ian Bradshaw
Jerome Taylor
Fidel Edwards
Corey Collymore

On paper WI could do well once again, but they could equally be thrashed by Bangladesh. This squad is stronger than the one that won the last tourney though.

Morton > Powell
Samuels = Joseph
Taylor > Sammy
Edwards > Dillon
Baugh > Browne
Smith > Hinds (as an allrounder)
2006 Bravo > 2004 Bravo

One thing that worked to our advantage last time was that we were in England for quite a while not long before the tourney so we were used to the conditions. Different this time around. Although if the draw is kind and the players can perform in the pressure situations the West Indies could repeat.

The conditions in England for the last CT were not the same as they were during the summer.

why no Ramdin???
is he injured??
Ramdin was struggling in ODIs earlier this year, so they brought in Baugh and he played very well. So Baugh is the ODI incumbent.

Samuels = Joseph
Samuels should come into his own on the slow Indian wickets, while he performed very well there with the bat in the West Indies last tour. Joseph was just a decent domestic batsman, nothing more.

Samuels >> Joseph

Their win in the champions trophy last time was unexpected & they played good cricket in those couple of matches & won the tournament. Its a bit longer this time it will be interesting to see how they go, but i'd say its highly unlikely thats they will defend it.

Joseph is a much better batsman now than he has been in past years. He certainly showed that against England 'A' earlier this year. Samuels is a shadow of the batsman he was on his last tour to India, so at this stage, he's only even with Joseph, if not less.

Samuels = Joseph.

for sure, Baugh was looking good vs India earlier this year But Ramdin has a more level head, he should be recalled pretty soon.

Granted I haven't seen Carlton Baugh play but I did see Dinesh Ramdin when he was touring NZ earlier in the year and he showed a lot of immaturity in his batting. Constanly sweeping Daniel Vettori even when a ball was there to be hit, I think that he was very nervous about facing him and didn't really know what to do. However against Australia he was brilliant at the Bellerive Oval in his partnership with Bravo.

Persist with Baugh and unless Ramdin does something to deserve the call-up then Baugh should be given a decent run.

In fairness, Ramdin looked pretty sharp in his last innings in the Stanford Twenty20 tournament in August. If Twenty20 cricket isn't a merit for ODI selection, I'm not sure what is.

Certainly need to bowl better than in the current warm-up game. Gujarat are 107/5 with 32 wides...
The West Indies team doesn't know what "comprehensive victory" really means.

Good to see Bravo among the wickets again though. Lord knows, he needs some.
