Five-for v Middx and top four v Notts (three lbw and one caught behind, including Fleming for 11) in the past two weeks. Best wicket-taker for Durham too: 49 wickets @ 26.30 (only Lewis of England-qualified seamers has more)

Interestingly, though, his one-day season has consisted of 8 overs for 35...

And Kabir has 29 @ 26.58 in 5 less matches. Does it make him good?

A division below. Anyway, it doesn't matter, I'm sure Onions is 30th man anyway. (though, given England's injuries...)

Graham Onions

Another Mickey Mouse Durham lad.

At least Kabir Ali has been shown the door, expect to see him back for the WC.

Surprised to see no James Benning, also when we the selectors finally axe Vikram Solanki for good?

I think that Mr. Solanki is being kept in the squad purely because of his fielding ability. It's not like he does much with the bat.

From the limited amount I've seen: Bresnan, not very; Broad, raw & not the finished article, but has height & bounce; Yardy, steady bat, useful part time SLA, kind of player Big Dunc likes.

Yardy = bits and pieces player or a similar version to Ian Blackwell, but better (and not as many pies?)?

No, he's more of a proper batter who turns his arm over a la Dalrymple or Colly. I think he's one of Big Dunc's "feeling" players, because his career stats (especially bowling) are fairly modest, but when I saw him bowl he looked a lot better than they suggest.

So more of a batsman who bowls rather then a batting all-rounder?

Anyway wasn't he the guy who scored a big double century against Bangladesh last year in a tour match and took a bagfull of wickets as well?

Yeah, he's the one. Bowls very much like Jayasuriya - flat, left-arm darts that are difficult to get away. Has a hugely exaggerated trigger movement across the stumps à la Lara when batting.

Matthew Hoggard in the ODI squad. Why? Then again if he keeps Kabir out.

Just dawned on me - what exactly has Chris Tremlett done wrong to now be rated below the likes of Gough, Bresnan and Onions?
