Think Gavaskar is the one who will, according to CI Dalmiya has said no to Mongia.

He hasn't delivered yet, and IMO no.7 doesn't look like the position for him. Indians might hv done better with Mongia (at 3/4) who has been in some good form playing for Lancashire. Or maybe give Karthik a go instead of Gavaskar at 7. I honestly cant see wht Gavaskar can do at 7 ....

To me, Gavaskar offers more to the side than Dinesh Mongia. Gavaskar is a well composed batsman, competent part-time bowler and excellent fielder. For mine, Mongia isn't as good with the bat, ball or in the field. He's a proven failure at ODI level and it was a disgrace how he was selected ahead of Laxman in the World Cup.

two reasons that mongia was selected ahead of Laxman was that he is a much better feilder and is not that shocking as laxman is in runing betwen wickets

Neither reason cancels out the more runs that Laxman would have offered though.

Devastating. I'm really upset about this. I think we should give up the 7th batsman in this series. Have Kaif come in earlier, and have either an extra bowler or give Karthik a chance to play the specialist keeper.

Well, I guess anything to make sure Sachin is fit and ready for the Australia/India series.

Not much of a 'Champions Trophy' without a true champion playing in it.
