But he was just getting into the groove. He was bowling near the 140's [first time i think since the world cup] and though a lot of runs were scored against quite a few of them went through the slips and the last over against Sri Lanka was just superb. The only guy i would have replaced is Balaji in the present team minus AA for AA as he has just completely lost form but would have tilted towards giving him a few more games.

maybe they want him to get completely fit for the test series later on in the year. anyway in ODI's nehra, zaheer and AA are about the same so shouldnt make too much of a difference.

[QUOTE=Arjun]Surprisingly, Ganguly still stays as captain. QUOTE]

Are you serious?

This is the same person who has backed Yuvraj, Kaif, Zaheer, Sehwag, Harbajan, Irfan....basically every new player who has performed well in international cricket...

India would not have gotten to the finals of the WC if SCG had not been captain....

Kaif sneaks into the team based on his NatWest performance....

It would have been exciting to see a new fast bowler...India should have selected different squads for the Holland Cup and those side matches with England...we could have blooded Munaf and Salvi, and worked out the batting order...

We keep looking at short term goals...and now we won't be prepared for the Champions trophy...

Apparently the Holland Cup and Champions Trophy are of equal importance

That would sound about right with his current wicket's per match average being about 1.5.

2 games and out then?

Yup...balaji has a better chance then him in the XI and most likely India will go with 2 pacemen and Pathan being on of them.

so what, you think 3 paceman and one spinner?? what are typical english pitches like? if they are moist (english weather) im assuming they are good for pacemen. but anyway, what are they like?

I think the 3 best bowlers for India are Pathan, Kumble and Harbhajan atm .. so they must play regardless of conditions.. Whats the point in leaving a better bowler like Kumble to accomodate a seamer who gets carted around .. Kumble has enough experience in ODI's to adapt, and not give runs.. 4th bowler is a toss-up between AA and Balaji .. I'll go for AA (better batting)

Except that Gavaskar isn't a part of the Champions Trophy squad, just the Videocon Cup.

Anyway, pretty decent squad, though I'm not too happy with Zaheer's exclusion that is IF he's fit enough to play.

Last 3 seasons there's been sod-all in terms of assistance for the seamers.
This season Giles has turned the ball on the last 3 Test-match pitches but only one of those grounds is being used for The Champions Trophy.
Certainly you can expect rubbish wickets at The Rose Bowl and belters at The Oval.
Edgbaston is anyone's guess.
And of course, it'll be cold, dark and damp. Because for some inexplicable reason it's been scheduled for after the season.
