Cummins is generally rated higher because Australian wickets are substantially flatter than South African ones so the perception is that he has a harder job.

Both have similar records. Great records but both with subpar performances in the sub continent. I will take kg cause of the superior strikerate but would love both together.

Cummins has had the advantage of the much better batting lineup for most of the two careers. Advantages and disadvantages when you analyse both.

Home pitches is a fair point. Aus pitches pre Covid were nearly as flat as those in Pak and still very flat at times post Covid.

Rabada needs to improve here. Yes, Rabada has a good career avg and volume but that's a lazy way to rate players. Rabada's career avg seems low thanks to 200 wickets at avg of 20 at home, but in SA,

As much as I love Rabada he doesn't have the fear factor Steyn had or Cummins has. Add in the extra pressure Cummins has of captaincy and he is a freak.

As much as I love Cummins, I feel he’s been a bit overrated (?) recently. Like these past few years he’s been pretty meh until that 6’fer in the WTC final. Overrated might not be the right word but its almost like people have been ignoring his recent slump. Mind you, it wasn’t awful, but it was pretty poor considering how friendly everywhere has been.

After B/G trophy he wouldn’t have even been in a top 10 for pacer averages over the past 2 years, with a minimum of 30 wickets, which is kinda shocking for someone of his pedigree. But it doesn’t seem to have affected his rating here at all, surprisingly.

He struggled in the second half of the Ashes in UK which is understandable given he played six tests. He didn't have much impact in the 2 tests he played in India about 4 months prior to that but there was the whole situation with his mother. Those serieses aside, I remember him being excellent. He is no longer considered to be the undisputed best fast bowler in the world but that is mainly down to Bumrah being super human than Cummins missing out

idk maybe its just his workload, considering he has been the pacer who’s playing the most during that period, alongside Starc. You’re right actually though, it was B/G that was more of a turning point (hard to remember cos Bumrah). He seemed to struggle in the majority of series (except vs Pakistan) for a while leading up to that but it wasn’t really talked about.

Cummins. Sc is acid test for any fast bowler. Cummins averages 22 on pakistani roads vs decent batting line up. Rabada has done well in bd but they have pretty poor batters

I feel like the best batsmen generally fear Cummins a lot more as well. He has great records against most of them.
