The most effortless and unusual sixes

The one handed one Lance Cairns pulled out during his famous 6 sixes in 14 balls onslaught, I have it on good authority from a YouTube comment that every kid in NZ started trying to replicate it soon after

Only downside is Bill Lawry wasn't in the comm box for all 6. He'd already shifted a few gears after the first couple of maximums, by the 6th he would have been have been having verbal conniptions

Also just quietly, 6 in 14 back then was chaotic. For early 1980s strike rate standards that's equivalent to 6 sixes in 4 balls today

Just a thread for those shots where you wonder how they crossed the rope.

Starting with this weird flat bat six by Moin on the floor

Moin one of those players I'm shocked averaged so low. Could do special things against class bowlers, such as McGrath

Moin is one of those guys whose value was more then his average suggests.

More often then not his main contribution would come in a crisis or at a stage when team needed an impetus.

Maybe not effortless as there's a few moving parts, but certainly unusual considering the bowler. the casual attitude and brazeness always stuck with me. One of my favourite cricketing moments

Loved Bothams "so where's Mal Loye been the last 14 years" at the end too

Haha, I can't think of too many players that have come and gone as quickly yet left such an impression

Lance Cairns averaged 16.7 and had a s/r of 105 (played 74-85). Was often promoted as pinch hitter. Would make huge IPL money these days.

I've always loved that first one. Looked like he turned side on and straight drove it over square leg. And the second on drive was glorious too, most cow corner sixes are slog sweeps or pulls so it's very impressive

Something about Aravinda, possibly his batspeed, made some of his shots look otherworldly

An on song Arvanda is up there with Lara for me just for share eye catching stroke play.

I remember thinking Shahzad was actually gonna be a big deal after this, or at least establish himself as Afghanistans best batsman. Only a cameo of 44 but against pretty solid bowlers. And he looked genuinely really good during that innings

The third six in question where he "holds the pose" after (which is unfortunately cut from the vid, BJ on comms was loving it I remember) is a beauty

One more before I go to sleep. Miller was deemed crap enough to bat below Adam Dale and MacGill at 10 only ahead of McGrath. Probably our weakest ever test tail in my lifetime.

Regardless though, here he is pummeling Ambrose for 2 sixes and looking very sheepish after. Ambrose clearly not the type of guy you want to overcelebrate in front of after getting him away lol
