Selectors Draft

Okay I’m not a regular in these things. So stop me if it’s been done or isn’t that interesting an idea.

But here’s the concept.

It will be for between 8-12 players.

Each of those players will then be allocated, privately, a Test nation and required to provide an all-time eleven for it. This must be a realistic eleven (you’ll see why later) though obviously subjectivity will be part of this.

This will then become the full pool of players available for the draft from rounds one to ten. Players will not be allowed to pick from their own team, unless there are no other options available (NB this is an absolutist rule so team balance is not a consideration. If there are players left from other countries you must pick them regardless if they don’t fit your team balance).

After round ten, players will need to provide their batting line-up and typical bowling order to me at which point I will put out the requirements for round eleven.

Thoughts? Anyone keen?
Won't everyone be inclined to put out the weakest possible XI at the start since they won't be picking from their own team?

So is having two drafts run at the same time against how we do things at CW?
As long as both drafts are not too time consuming, we can do them in parallel.

I think it is fine to run this in parallel since the other is going on for eternity.

Yes so I will outright reject the XI if it’s stupid. Putting a bit of faith in people playing within the spirit of the game.
It is a thin line and could be difficult for you to decide imo, but will leave it to you as the organizer.

Yeah we will see how it goes. End of the day a controversial best Australia XI is going to provide superior players to an Ireland XI so it shouldn’t matter too much.

Will draw the teams shortly and go from there…

If I get Sri Lanka, you lot can forget about Sangakkara for this draft and thank me later.

Okay I am going to start sending PMs now with your allocated teams. If we can try and get the XIs back in 24 hours we can then kick the draft proper off.

Anyone who sends a stupid team will automatically go last in the draft in every round, as well as being asked to redo their team :D

Won't the 2 Australian teams need to be done in consultation or will Australia #1 be selected then the allocated participant picks the second XI

The teams should be mentioned here or sent back to you through PM?
