Reckon Auckland might get up for the Plunket Shield.

Canterbury stumbled and stumbling these last two rounds.

Will be an interesting last day in Napier.

No Ferguson, so Auks have Nethula and their bucket-load of military mediums to take the 10 wickets. On paper the CD batting lineup could chase down the target. Big chance for Young and Bruce to make some headlines for Hesson to read tomorrow..

It's quite in here, I'm guessing either Ish Sodhi took a bagful of wickets or Timmy Seifert scored some runs....

Munro opening the bowling in both innings was pretty interesting.. he bowled first change the previous round as well. It looks like he's decided to take his bowling a bit more seriously again in a bid to compete with Neesham, CdD and Santner rather than just Nicholls. It's probably a good move on his part because I think the selectors would be a lot more comfortable with his batting style at 6 than as a specialist in the top five.

He joined Glenn Phillips yesterday as the only person to score a 20-20, one day and four day hundred all in the same season. Great effort, he's been really good for Wellington this year.
As of yesterday he's retiring.

Taking a job in insurance.

I see Seth Rance has finally received the call, well deserved. Best white bowler I've seen in domestic cricket in a long time. I think he'll do well on the international scene

New Zealand squad: Tom Latham (captain) George Worker, Ross Taylor, Neil Broom, Henry Nicholls, Colin Munro, Jimmy Neesham, Luke Ronchi, Scott Kuggeleijn, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Neil Wagner, Hamish Bennett, Seth Rance, Jeetan Patel (will join the squad for the fourth ODI).

Yeah good squad, although the continual selection of Ronchi Donkey is starting to drive me nuts. He also had a very underwhelming return to domestic cricket late this season. What makes matters worse is they talked him up as a captaincy selection in an earlier article.. Blundell deserved a easy introduction to international cricket, but they obviously see Ronchi as our short form keeper for next season

Also would have liked to see Will Young, but the selected players have earned their spots.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I'd go with this XI for a couple of games before swapping around some players

1. T Latham*
2. N Broom
3. G Worker (6)
4. R Taylor
5. C Munro (7)
6. J Neesham (4)
7. L Ronchi+ (all keep and no runs makes Tom a dull bat)
8. M Santner (5)
9. S Kuggeleijn (3)
10. N Wagner (2)
11. H Bennett (1)

Gotta be pleased with people like Rance, Bennett, Worker earning places on the back of good domestic form. Sounds like Rance only selected after Nuttall not considered for fitness reasons.

Nothing personal but Ronchi needs to break a couple of fingers.

Looking at the Ford Trophy and Super Smash averages, the only other players to miss out on this almost A-tour* that might feel a little unfortunate would be Young and Bruce. I think I'd have prefered one of those picked over one of Broom/Nicholls/Munro.

* and that isn't injured like Wheeler and Clarkson

I think they will take stock again after the Champion's Trophy ... surely we will see someone else given a shot next home season.

Great to see Rance, Bennett and Wagner get their shots in the ODI team. Hopefully the most deserving of them impresses and gets a go in the Champion's Trophy.
