Pougatch mainly does football, I think. Never a good idea to have a commentator do a different sport.

Aye, thought that was exceptionally odd when I heard "now to take-up the commentary, Mark Pougatch".

Was like "... WTF?"

I used to like Nasser, but I haven't heard much of him in a very long time, so maybe my memory is fuzzy.

I rate him very highly still. Does more than simply call the play and unafraid to voice a genuine opinion, which is an affliction many recently-retired players suffer from.

Most of the English commentators are dull, but Hussain and Atherton at least say things that are meaningful and usually correct.

Rangit Fernando is pretty bad. He is our version of Cozier

Yeah, we've got a bad case of that in New Zealand. For some idiotic reason Ian Smith covers rugby games, and quite often Grant Nisbett does cricket. Both are quite poor.

Easily the worst commentator in world cricket IMO. Actually have to mute the TV when he starts a stint.
After watching the IPL coverage in India I'd have to say Kris Srikkanth is infinitely worse. Heard terrible reviews about Srinath and Sidhu as well.

Smith is one of our better sideline men in rugby commentary - doesn't lose the plot like Tony Johnston. Not sure what games you're watching.

I think poor old Tony Cozier just gets so frustrated having grown up watching the great WI sides, it's almost like he's suffering from manic depression seeing some of the things the current crop have done in recent years.
He seems pretty heartened by recent efforts though. Loving his frustration at the sight screen fiascos too.
And even if he's bad, Pommy makes up for it, imo.

Blofeld & Reeve are in a league of their own.
Blofeld is a true radio legend. No one who heard it has ever forgotten his commentary on the late 70's tour of Pakistan when Geoff Cope was bowling to Mudassar Nazar and he somehow managed to describe Geoff Capes bowling to Don Mosey.
As far as Reeve is concerned it's often hard to tell whether he's talking about cricket or the Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling Championship.

Haha, at least you're starting to beleive me when I say Johnston is a tool. That said, I don't find Smithy that good at the rugby, not really sure what it is about him.
