Should the next Ashes series have 6 Tests?

Ashes series may go for six

Would be good, the 2005 Ashes might have been even more of a clifhanger, England were saved by top class knock by KP (even if Shane Warne did offer a helping hand) and Ashley Giles chipped in as well. Would England have been able to have kept it up for one more Test? Obviously we would never know, but it would of been fun. And Iw ould rather see another Test then a bunch of Twenty20 (even I do like the odd game) matches.

Nah, never been in favour of Test series with an even number of games.

The first one. The thought of a series finishing up at 3-3 just annoys me.
Just as much chance of a 2-2 result in a 5 Test Series in my opinion.

I don't like the idea of an even number for ODIs but in Tests I don't see the problem at all, I voted 6.

Warney could have taken 50 wickets last series if it were 6 tests.

It's my favourite series to watch so the more Tests the better.

Yeah I preferred the five test format (just seems like a good number) .....what's with playing only 4 against India for the Border Gavaskar trophy...why can't they extend that to 5 ?

Last 6-Test series was between the 2 countries in 1997 - would be great for Bellerive to get an Ashes Test, and would certainly be interesting to follow with genuine closeness for the first time a 6-Test series.

Am fully in favour. Provided the darn thing isn't in a World Cup year. But that's a different story.

BTW -:lol::laugh::lol: at the irrelevant option. Guess Whelan couldn't bring himself to vote for this-'un?

Next WC isn't until 2011 so I think we should be alright?

Next Ashes in Australia is 2010/2011. Depending on when the WC is whether it is early or late in the year. It could stuff up England preparations, cus they can't mutli-skill.

Exactly, that's why I'm so keen on this idea, raised last October, to un-synchronize the two. Guess it's not possible to do until after the next one.

Yeah, plenty of times - live in the sense that the series victor has been decided.

Not sure how old you are, and those below a certain age might not know that 6-Test series used to be, not common, but certainly not unusual.

Every Ashes in Australia in the 1970s was 6 Tests; every Ashes in England in the 1980s and 1990s was 6 Tests. So were some India-Pakistan series in said 3 decades. Think that was about it, but there may have been more.

I think there have been a few Australia/South Africa Test Series that have been 6 Tests as well.

Haha, how on Earth I could omit that? :wallbash: Ever since readmission, Aus and SA have played 6-Test home-and-away series, 4 of them so far.

The only surviving 6-Test series as of this post, but officially split into 2 3-Test ones in each country. Usually, though, an overall scoreline is given such as "Australia won 5-1" (in 2001\02).
