Warwickshire were the next opponents at home, tough match expected and so it proved. They won the toss but we struck early through Nath and Pickup to leave them 40-3. That was as good as it got, Trevoy Penney and Dom Ostler smashed the CW bowlers to all parts In partnership of 245.To add insult to injury Warren added an unbeaten 50 and although Nath and Pickup cleared the tail, Warwicks reached 401 all out Naths 4-94 the pick of the bowling.

CW responded in the best possible manner, all of the top four got to 50, Steds again falling just short of a maided FC century with 93, Jellett Weber and Ferd the other batsman to put the Brummies to the sword. Age Master and Mr Wright and Nath added useful runs down the order to give CW a 61 run lead.

Thoughts of a victory were snuffed out by Powell, Wagh and MOM Penney;s half centuries and Wariwcks declared their second dig on 315-5.

Sean Bennett just had time to register another 50 before the draw was called - disappointing not to push for the win, the toss was crucial (probably).

Whilst concentrating on the matches at hand in the county championship and National league, there’s been a nagging doubt at the back of everyone in the CW squad since the super cup final catastrophe and the C&G presents an ideal opportunity to wipe out those memories. The quarter final was the next hurdle to pass and CW faced a Northants side which while unfashionable has some good players. Mal Loye and Russel Warren and Swann and Ricaldo Anderson cannot be underestimated and captain for the day Sean Bennett was happy to win the toss and insert them. Cloete and Vimes returned from England duty but Malone and Richards were left out.

The coach before the game had emphasised the virtues of line and length and making the pressure tell, and Hall and Kearley took it into account as they both piled on the pressure early one. The openers couldn’t handle it and both ended up with a wicket each and great economy rates. Halsey bowled an excellent 10 to keep the pressure up and take wickets aswell, his 3-34 the top bowling display. Northants decided early on to try and preserve wickets and the gave Swann a chance to score a composed unbeaten 50 but at 187-8 against a very strong batting side they look about 100 runs light.

Bennett had been in resplendent form recently and today was no exception, he and Ferd both registered half centuries as the first wicket pairing put on 100 to make the game safe. Bennett finished unbeaten on 81 with a 8 wickets victory in the bag and a semi to come.

Bennett last seven innings have been…..104(NL), 94 & 30*(CC), 99(NL), 93 & 53* (CC) and 81*(C&G)

Well last year it was Bluefox but as he is in poor form at the moment and doesn't make the side, its been rotating a bit

Great win guys... I'm also very happy with my ODI batting. HOpefully I get called up next series and hopefully the Webbers keep going! That win cements our spot at the top of the NL Div 1 Table. Just need to keep this form going a bit longer!

Note: ICC calculates NRR by adding up the NRRs of all the matches, not by dividing total runs by total overs as is common practice...

Glad to be back with the team, although I did crap...again :D
