*Official* ICC2002 Editing Developments

Frustration - Calm down calm down

The reason we are in a bit of a tiz, is that the editor situation is a bit of a false dawn.

It's BRILLIANT to have an editor, and I for one am very pleased that you guys have done so much work on it.

However, much of the enjoyment comes out of actually cracking the code and writing the editor. Once it's all done and dusted, you edit a few teams, boot up ICC2002 and.....

It's the same game it always was.

What I think..(sorry for the presumption) we want is actually is a new game.

We followers of ICC aren't swung by fancy graphics or features that aren't linked to gameplay. We want cricket management and captaincy. (Don't we? Shoot me if i'm wrong)

How about.

Batsmen

More 6's
Reverse sweeps
"Gap" finders
Tail support specialists (the keep strike button is one I use very rarely, seems to get one of my guys out the minute I use it)
Varieties of shot per batsmen
etc etc etc

Bowlers

Left arm over THAT BOWL LEFT ARM OVER. not right arm around. (gawd it's been like that since the original ICC)
Spinner balancing
Definable tactics for certain batters (Short against A - pitched up against B)
Field settings for specific batters (so you dont have to alter it every time a single is taken)
etc etc etc

Other

More specific coaching - specific coaches with skill
2nd 11 development
Full integration of Kolpak etc (so you can scout for new ones)
etc etc

Sure there are others, more graphics would be nice (though happy with the style of graphics)

So rather than turn on each other, lets rally for a new cricket management/captaincy game of a fully professional standard that perhaps builds on the (very) tried and tested ICC formula.

The market is here...

To begin with i'd take it with or without a database editor(LOL)

Out of interest, what difference does a left arm over actually make to a right arm round in terms of a little movie?

I'd say none.

I'd agree...but it should shouldn't it ? :)

I mean batsmen have on or off side strengths, so having a left arm over swinging it in from outside off to a right hander who favours the off side "should" be a good tactic. Inside edge, LBW, or the one that doesn't swing getting the outside edge. (is that right ??...same as Hoggard to Smith but in reverse... )

Will get 2005 - but it will be more a gesture of support than a game I want. Without the photo's I will be back on 2002 and Magpie.

No, SI do not release data updates with every patch,

They have made an editor available, but people who use it have found problems with causing crashes.

Also, editors wouldn't hurt online play, but in ICC they'd have killed it.
No, you are wrong there. SI have had an editor for many years. It is now officially supported by the game (and comes "in the box") it only messes the game up if you do something really stupid. It is used extensively, and SI are comitted to continuing to have an editor..indeed they say they will enlarge and improve its functionality year on year.

In the UK only "The Sims" outsells Football Manager...and Football Manager comes out every year (the sims about once every 4 years)

How does this harm the game? It's a simple process ensure games that are edited are flagged as such online. If you don't want to play someone with an edited database...you don't have to.

OOTP, CC, Baseball Mogul, FM, CM, Boxing Manager, Microprose Grand Prix Manager, Fifa manager, Racing Team Manager, ITC, Tracksuit Manager,.. in fact every major text based sports sim I've ever played has an editor (and I play every one I can find)...except ICC.
