ICC Players Who Were Much Better In Game Than IRL

Over the 15 years of ICC, there have been a **** load of guys who were unknowns in real life, yet were total guns in the game.

Which guys performed far better things for you than in the game they actually did?

I'll start off with a few:

About 50% of South Africans in post 2005 games.
Most Sri Lankan bowlers, and a ****load of Pakistani ones too.
    David Hussey (ICC 2005)
Thilan Samaraweera (any ICC up until 2011)
Paul Hutchison (any ICC before 2005)
    Kevin Dean (ditto)
    Kyle Mills (see Dean, Hutchison)
    Parveen Sharma (ICC 2001)
Matt Inness (any ICC he was in AFAIC)
    Jason Brown (ICC 2001)
    Tyron Henderson (ICC 2001)
Gavin Hamilton (see Dean, Mills, Hutchison)
    Nasim Khan (ICC 2002)
    Barrington Rowland (ICC 2005)
    Amit Desphande (ICC 2005)
    Grant Rowley (ICC 2005)
Andrew Puttick (ICC 2002 and 2005, and most likely others)
Quinton Friend (ICC 2005) - was basically a batting all-rounder lol
Imraan Khan (ICC 2005) - inverse Friend
    Dheeraj Jadhav (ICC 2005)
    Yashpal Singh (ICC 2005)
    Jitendra Malik (ICC 2006)
    Amos Mauwanga (ICC 2005)
    Luther Mutambiyzi (ICC 2005)

Add some more to the list.

Dale Deeb (2011) Took about 45 wickets in a five match series against me. I mean, what the ****?

Louis Klazinga and Stephen Murdoch were stupidly good when I actually looked at their database a couple of editions ago.

James Ormond was really good for some reason on the 2002 version as well. As was Adam Hollioake.

Stephen "averaging 50-80 for his first 1000 runs across most games" Murdoch. Jitendra Malik another great shout.

The other great thing about these games is how terrible the computer is at selecting teams. In one of my 2011 saves where Australia randomly fell to pieces, David Warner was a one test wonder with a fifty to his name and a good FC average while Usman Khawaja played over 100 tests for an average under 30.

Wasn't Fawad Alam the best batsman in 2011?

Hasan Raza used to be really good on 2005 as well IIRC. And Zulqarnain Haider.

But yeah, the intelligence of the computer when it comes to picking sides is dreadful. It's awful at selecting which bowlers to use as well I find, especially when you're facing a side with 4 bowlers and an all-rounder. Quite often you'll see 3 of the main bowlers and the all-rounder bowled into the ground, but the remaining bowler will only bowl about 10 overs in an innings, but pick up 4-5 important wickets and have a very low economy. But for some reason will hardly get a bowl, despite seeming to be completely unplayable.

This becomes even more annoying when the computer elects to bowl a load of part-timers instead of the lethal seamer..

Haha, they take the second new ball with part timers at both ends all the time too.

And then there's the "allrounder or best batsman must bat at three" rule, wicketkeepers like Haddin asked to open and keep, and specialist batsmen (usually openers) batting at seven. In ODIs the computer will happily pick five bowlers and to hell with their batting ability too.

Yeah, some of the AI is awful. It's even more annoying when batsman take the new ball and get wickets. The computer generally uses only 4 bowlers except for occasional breaks in FC matches, yet as Phlegm pointed out pick five bowlers regardless of batting ability.

When the computer auto-selects your team for the first match of a series before you get to alter it you see some really strange stuff too.

I had a specialist bat (and opener) put in at 8 behind several all-rounders the other day. Annoying.

Yeah, after your best two openers it was generally your best batsman afterwards. Wasn't a fan.
