Maybe Mental Toughness could be added as well - i.e. players like Steve Waugh, Brian Lara, Glenn McGrath etc. would have high ratings for this.

Basically I want it to be as good as possible - I'm fed up of using the half-baked efforts of others
- so keep firing them this way. I intend to make it solely the match engine now (ie there won't be scope for experience/form) so it *shouldn't* take too obscene an amount of time to complete.I guess values for a players' willingness to go for shots and their proficiencies against spin and pace would be useful too, cheers David. Mental Toughness will be interesting, I'm not entirely sure how I would code that into the game but there's no harm in creating data for it. Within the next week I will write a data editor and I would like some people to create team data files with it (16 man squads) in batting order, thanks

Mental Toughness, I suppose, would come into effect when a) playing against good teams, b) on the 4th and 5th day when a good effort is needed to win, c) playing against good players, d) when a batsman is at 140, 150 with nothing to motivate him. Just an idea...

So, to recap, what we've got included so far:
Players' Heights Bowling Type Bowling Speed Bowling Accuracy Bowling Movement/Spin Bowling Lines Bowling Lengths Batting Foot Preference Batting Side Preference Batting Shot Power Batting Timing Pitch - Pace, Movement, Spin Outfield Weather Field Placements (not to the nth degree as I do not have the ability/time) Catching ability Ground fielding ability Speed between wickets Keeping standing back Keeping standing up Proficiency vs Pace Proficiency vs Spin Willingness to go for Shots Mental Toughness Right, who's up for helping in the development/data creation process? There is absolutely no way I have the time to do it all myself, so I'd like volunteers for data creation (see above... will create editor shortly) and also general development/research/graphic design.

Great work!
However, not even Championship Manager with their incredible depth collect all the possible data for all their players, so may I suggest something like a "general" batting and bowling potential upon which the "unknown" ratings can be determined? I mean, collecting data like "shooting on the front foot" for Tapash Baisya or Moniruzzaman for example could be quite hard...just a suggestion, mind. |

Neil the game looks like it's really coming on, just one little point.
Is it really worth you getting all the players information now? I mean if your aiming for a release in like 2-3 years time, half the players will have retired, your have a whole bunch of players that nobody even knows of on the sence and players change in time, I mean Freddie Flintoff learnt the art of Semi defence (hit 4 instead of 6 probley his aim )All iam thinking is it not worth you just randomly creating a few teams just for the basic of testing and using in development and nearer the time get the full, current list of players and their stats? |
