Zimbabwe series:

1st Test
Bangladesh 567-6 dec
Rahman 208
Abedin 126
Nuruzzaman 78

Zimbabwe 230
Shahzada 4-41
Rasel 2-28

Zimbabwe 232
Hasan 5-46
Rasel 3-61

Bangladesh won by an innings and 105 runs
Awesome win. Rahman and Abedin were amazing. I was impressed by my two debutants in this game as well - Towhid Hossain scored 64, and Syed Rasel took 2-28 and 3-61.

2nd Test
Zimbabwe 288
Hasan 4-60
Shahzada 2-65

Bangladesh 357
Nuruzzaman 84
Hossain 69

Zimbabwe 267
Hasan 5-41
Rasel 3-74

Bangladesh 200-3
Ahmed 78*
Abedin 56

Bangladesh won by 7 wickets
Another solid win. Again Hossain (69) and Rasel (1-50 and 3-74) played well, but Hasan was the star here with 9-101.

1st ODI
Zimbabwe 177
Hasan 2-26
Sunny 2-31

Bangladesh 178-6
Ahmed 54
Nuruzzaman 33

Bangladesh won by 4 wickets

2nd ODI
Bangladesh 203-9
Sonet 46
Nuruzzaman 38

Zimbabwe 114
Rafique 4-23
Hasan 3-27

Bangladesh won by 89 runs

3rd ODI
Bangladesh 254-9
Ahmed 140*
Abedin 41

Zimbabwe 112
Hasan 5-21
Rafique 3-31

Bangladesh won by 142 runs

So, a good ODI series win there. The spinners were excellent in all three games. But batting remains an issue in ODIs - apart from Aftab Ahmed (who was EPIC in the 3rd ODI), no batsman reached 50 in the series.

I've just finished the World Cup with my Bangladesh side, and unfortunately we were knocked out at the group stage after loses to Sri Lanka and India. The Indian loss was particularly disappointing given we'd manage to win the ODI series against them the previous season 3-0, and that we'd made 272 batting first only to have it chased down easily.

Just to summarise my results:
Tests: L 0-2 vs England, D 1-1 vs Sri Lanka, D 1-1 vs Zimbabwe, L 0-2 vs India, D 1-1 vs England, L 0-1 vs New Zealand (1 draw)
ODIs: 0-6 in ODI tri series, L 0-3 vs Sri Lanka, W 3-0 vs Zimbabwe, W 3-0 vs India, W 3-0 vs England, W 2-1 vs New Zealand

World Cup:
Sri Lanka 231/8 (Sangakkara 66, Atapattu 58, Rahman 4/59) beat Bangladesh 198 all out (Aftab Ahmed 97, K.Fernando 5/33) by 33 runs
Bangladesh 256 all out (Bashar 79, Arif Ahmed 67, A.Patel 4/48) beat Canada 69 all out (M.Islam 4/6, Rafique 4/9) by 187 runs
Bangladesh 272/6 (Bashar 77, Aftab Ahmed 49, Saleh 47*, N.Iqbal 46) lost to India 276/3 (Sehwag 94, Gambhir 88, Tendulkar 65*) by 7 wickets

All up I won 13/24 ODIs, so a ratio greater than 50% which is quite pleasing; although ultimately disappointing not to make it further in the World Cup. Test matches 3/10 including 1 draw.

The WC squad I chose was Arif Ahmed, N.Iqbal, Bashar, Saleh, Aftab Ahmed, Nuruzzaman, M.Islam, Rahman, Rafique, Miah, E.Sunny, Hasan, Razzaq, I.Islam and R.Haque.

Impressive overall record Somerset.

Challenge proves very tough given the fixturing for the World Cup. It would be nice to play Canada first to increase the form of some players.

Never went with Shahzada, Somers? Was my best seamer by miles.
Played him a handful of matches without much success; he only impressed in a FC friendly against Wellington where he took 8 wickets. My tactic was generally to play two quick bowlers in Haque, A.Islam and Rahman, and three spinners in Rafique, M.Islam and Hasan/Razzaq. That seemed to be a good strategy and allowed my side to bat deep with Rafique at 9/10.

Thanks - was really pleased with my ODI form, at one point we went on a winning streak of 10 ODIs. Test matches are still tricky but the batting's certainly improved with scores in excess of 400 against both England and New Zealand in the test series leading up to the World Cup. I guess the struggle is not having any real depth outside of the top 4-5 batsmen; no second team players of any quality came through and the existing depth is poor.

Just played the India series. I was going to pick the keeper you guys had all had luck with, Arif Ahmed, but he was injured. But the guy I picked instead, Sajjad Kadir, was a handy replacement.

BANGLADESH v INDIA

1st Test

Bangladesh 180
Kadir 77
Rahman 34

India 370
Rasel 3-92
Rafique 3-92

Bangladesh 278
Kadir 130
Nuruzzaman 38

India 92-1
Rafique 1-46

India won by 9 wickets.
We lost this game in the first innings. But Kadir had an amazing match on debut.

2nd Test

India 402
Rafique 5-80
Rasel 3-84

Bangladesh 157
Kadir 30
Rafique 26

Bangladesh (FO) 50
Iqbal 21
Kadir 8

India won by an innings and 195 runs.
****. Let's move on, shall we?

1st ODI

Bangladesh 252-9
Kadir 83 (69)
Sonet 51 (68)

India 243
Rasel 2-46
Shahzada 2-47

Bangladesh won by 9 runs.
That's more like it! Still a bit concerned with the batting - we were 189-2 at one point - but this was a good performance overall. Kadir = hero.

2nd ODI

India 288-2
Hasan 1-38
Shahzada 1-64

Bangladesh 167
Salahuddin 57 (81)
Kadir 28 (17)

India won by 121 runs.
Well, India hit back at us pretty hard here, and we didn't handle it too well.

3rd ODI

India 162
Hasan 3-22
Rasel 2-28

Bangladesh 163-3
Sonet 77* (145)
Ahmed 54 (88)

Bangladesh won by 7 wickets.
YES! ODI series win! :D

We took that chase in the 3rd ODI very slowly - took 48 overs to get to 163. Didn't want to take any risks.

So I stay in 9th place on the Test standings, but that ODI series win lifts me up past England to 8th on the ODI table. And it looks like England's my next opponent.

Great ODI series win Ed. :) I too won the ODI series against India after being demolished in the test series, it appears to me anyway as though the limited overs format certainly suits Bangladesh on ICC.

Am currently in the 2010-11 season and am proceeding decently good. Ranked 5 in tests and 4 in ODIs.

Have beaten SA both home (2-0) and Away(1-0) in tests. Lost to Pakistan away(1-0) and home(2-0) (The away series should have been a draw. A real heart breaker. Their last wicket had a partnership of 35 runs and left me needing to score 83 runs in 9 overs. I was stranded on 82. :( ).

Cannot play Kaneria at all. Every single time he rips through our middle order.

England series:

1st Test
Bangladesh 230 (Ahmed 54)
England 308 (Shahzada 3-67)
Bangladesh 88 (Ahmed 26)
England 11-0
England won by 10 wickets

2nd Test
England 517 (Hasan 6-93)
Bangladesh 367 (Nuruzzaman 132)
England 189 (Rafique 5-51)
Bangladesh 194 (Nuruzzaman 47)
England won by 145 runs

1st ODI
Bangladesh 240-7 (Sonet 68)
England 183 (Razzak 4-46)
Bangladesh won by 57 runs

2nd ODI
Bangladesh 196 (Sonet 58)
England 196-7 (Hasan 3-28)
Tie

3rd ODI
Bangladesh 197 (Nuruzzaman 36)
England 198-5 (Rafique 2-33)
England won by 5 wickets

So the Test team remains awful, but the ODI team's going pretty well. Sonet is amazing - 19 years old and averaging 50.12 after 9 ODIs.

I think he's been there since the start - Ishraq Sonet is his full name. It says he made his FC debut in 2004. I think his 2nd XI average is only 40-odd, but he's looking good.

Tough luck Ed. It is a tough challenge to make it past the group stage.

So everybody has failed the end challenge. I'm sure all managers are pleased with how Bangladesh performed. Everyone had small triumphs along the way.

Anyone fancy starting a new challenge? The participation in this thread was fantastic.
