Ryobi One Day Cup: WA vs. Qld
Western Australia XI Shaun Marsh Wes Robinson Michael Hussey Adam Voges Luke Pomersbach Luke Ronchi David Bandy Mitchell Johnson Ashley Noffke Steve Magoffin Brad Knowles Queensland XI Chris Simpson Ryan Broad Lee Carseldine Jason Floros Chris Lynn James Hopes Craig Philipson Chris Hartley Nathan Rimmington Chris Swan Luke Feldman Queensland 175 all out (41.1 ov) Carseldine 59 Floros 33 Swan 23 Noffke 3-33 Johnson 3-34 Magoffin 2-36 Western Australia 4-178 (42.1 ov) Pomersbach 54* Hussey 46 Ronchi 44* Hopes 2-30 Simpson 1-49 Western Australia won by 6 wickets Disappointing start to the season. Johnson's first game for WA and he ripped through my top order to snare Broad, Simpson and Hopes for not much. Carseldine and Floros showed some good touch and Swan was handy at the end, but we were never going to post enough. Succeeded in keeping WA quiet, but Ronchi got them over the line with a run a ball 44* to seal the win. |

Sheffield Shield: Western Australia vs. Queensland
Western Australia XI Shaun Marsh Wes Robinson Michael Hussey Adam Voges Marcus North Luke Pomersbach Luke Ronchi David Bandy Mitchell Johnson Steve Magoffin Brad Knowles Queensland XI Ryan Broad Wade Townsend Lee Carseldine Chris Lynn Craig Philipson Chris Hartley James Hopes Chris Swan Ryan Harris Nathan Rimmington Cameron Boyce Western Australia 1st innings 280 all out Pomersbach 60 Johnson 56* Bandy 39 Hussey 7 North 0 (1) Hopes 3-74 Harris 3-75 Rimmington 2-48 Queensland 1st innings 310 all out Townsend 82 Hopes 66 Lynn 48 Bandy 4-44 Knowles 3-62 Johnson 2-110 Western Australia 2nd innings 8-360 dec. North 71 Ronchi 64 Voges 57 Pomersbach 52 Hussey 17 Boyce 2-46 Harris 2-53 Hopes 2-66 Queensland 2nd innings 9-203 Carseldine 54 Lynn 42 Hopes 31 Swan 13* Boyce 11* North 2-15 Bandy 2-38 Johnson 2-52 Match drawn (Qld 2, WA 0) Very nearly an absolute disaster as WA gave us around eighty overs to survive and too much of a target. We were all over them in the first innings after reducing them to 6-190 (effectively 7-fa with Robinson injured), but Bandy, Johnson and Magoffin all made runs. Townsend was the best of the batsmen for us with an 82 off 238, but the top-middle order struggled with Bandy who had 4-44 off 21 overs. We bowled poorly in the second innings and were in all sorts of trouble to bat out the day, but Boyce and Swan lasted forty minutes to avoid an outright loss. |

Tour Match: Qld vs. Sri Lankans
Queensland Chris Simpson Ryan Broad Lee Carseldine Jason Floros Craig Philipson *James Hopes +Chris Hartley Nathan Rimmington Chris Swan Ben Laughlin Cameron Boyce Sri Lankans Lahiru Thirimanne *+Kumar Sangakkara Angelo Mathews Thilan Samaraweera Mahela Jayawardene Upul Tharanga TM Dilshan Dammika Kariyawasam Ajantha Mendis Muttiah Muralitharan Dilhara Fernando Queensland 263 all out (49.5 ov) Philipson 57 (69) Simpson 38 (21) Floros 33 (61) Mendis 3-38 (9.5) Fernando 3-61 (10) Kariyawasam 2-61 (10) Sri Lankans 2-267 (45.4 ov) Thirimanne 115 (116) Mathews 82* (80) Sangakkara 55 (79) Laughlin 1-47 (10) Boyce 1-49 (5.4) Sri Lankans won by 8 wickets My bowling is absolutely rat**** at the moment. Boyce managed to snare Sangakkara with his first ball in List A cricket caught behind, but then went the journey off his next 33 balls to end with 1-49. Rimmington and Simpson also copped some stick. I didn't think the total we posted was too bad. Philipson made a vital half century but threw it away against Fernando, while Swan was handy again with 22 off 14. |

Ryobi One Day Cup: Qld vs. WA
Queensland Chris Simpson Nathan Reardon Lee Carseldine Jason Floros Craig Philipson James Hopes +Chris Hartley Nathan Rimmington Chris Swan Ryan Harris Ben Laughlin IN: Harris, Laughlin, Reardon OUT: Broad, Feldman, Lynn (all omitted) Changing things up a bit here. Feldman wasn't too bad in the first game against WA, but makes way for Harris while Laughlin comes in to give us another bowling option. Broad has failed in his first two games, so Reardon comes in on the back of some decent grade form. Western Australia Shaun Marsh Liam Davis Michael Hussey Adam Voges Luke Pomersbach Luke Ronchi David Bandy Mitchell Johnson Ashley Noffke Steve Magoffin Brad Knowles Queensland 8-167 (50 ov) Hartley 56* (111) Swan 32 (50) Carseldine 28 (47) Bandy 3-25 (10) Knowles 2-35 (10) Johnson 2-36 (10) Western Australia 1-170 (27.1 ov) Marsh 85* (76) Hussey 77* (87) Davis 4 (3) Swan 1-25 (5) Western Australia win by 9 wickets ... |

Ryobi One Day Cup: Qld vs. SA
Queensland Chris Simpson Wade Townsend (ODD debut) Lee Carseldine Nathan Reardon Craig Philipson *James Hopes +Chris Hartley Chris Swan Ryan Harris Luke Feldman Ben Laughlin IN: Feldman, Townsend OUT: Floros, Rimmington (both omitted) Bit tough on Floros who has made a couple of good starts, but he fell at a bad time last game and Townsend has been strong in grade cricket. I worry that he's a bit slow, though. Rimmington hasn't taken a wicket yet and has gone for piles, so Feldman gets another chance. I'm suffering from picking two T20 specialists which is suicidal with such a small squad. South Australia Aiden Blizzard Daniel Harris *Michael Klinger Jamie Smith Aaron O'Brien Dan Christian +Tim Ludemand Tim Lang (ODD debut) Shaun Tait Peter George Ben Edmondson South Australia 171 all out (41 ov) Smith 67 (75) Klinger 22 (15) Harris 22 (43) Swan 4-27 (9) Feldman 4-22 (5) Laughlin 1-31 (5) Queensland 1-175 (29.5 ov) Carseldine 84* (87) Townsend 77* (95) Simpson 0 (4) Tait 1-34 (7) Queensland won by 9 wickets (Qld 5, SA 0) Finally! Really disciplined bowling display with Swan all over their middle order. Their batsmen made starts but no one except for Smith went on with it. Feldman was 0-13 off two before tearing through the tail with 4-9 off his next three overs. Inspired selection! Simpson is still very hit-or-miss at the top of the order, but Townsend and Carseldine were great to get the bonus point. |

Ryobi One Day Cup: Qld vs. Tas
Queensland Chris Simpson Wade Townsend Lee Carseldine Nathan Reardon Craig Philipson Jason Floros *+Chris Hartley Chris Swan Ryan Harris Luke Feldman Ben Laughlin IN: Floros OUT: Hopes (Australia) The loss of Hopes hurts a bit because it means I need ten overs from Floros and Simpson. Unchanged otherwise, though. Tasmania Ed Cowan +Tim Paine *George Bailey Travis Birt Alex Doolan (ODD debut) Rhett Lockyear Luke Butterworth Brett Geeves Gerard Denton Ben Hilfenhaus Tim Macdonald Tasmania 5-261 (50 ov) Cowan 91 (135) Birt 71 (84) Doolan 41* (27) Harris 2-49 (10) Feldman 2-65 (10) Laughlin 1-61 (10) Queensland 8-251 (50 ov) Hartley 77 (68) Swan 47* (48) Floros 27 (40) Butterworth 2-46 (10) Hilfenhaus 2-50 (10) Macdonald 2-53 (10) Tasmania won by 10 runs (Tas 4, Qld 0) Gahh, not sure how I conceded that many after having them tracking for around 200 at one point. They timed their run well and would have made near 100 off the last ten overs - Feldman and Laughlin going the journey in the batting powerplay. My top order failed again and we were 6-131 before Hartley and Swan added 90. Swan is one of the most handy lower order batsmen going around, but it wasn't enough. Still, we've improve since the start of the year. Last edited by SirBloody Idiot; 01-12-2010 at 03:05 AM. |

Swan just isn't taking wickets in FC cricket and is going for runs, but he's continually making contributions with the bat so he's hard to drop. He's the equivalent of Flem's Shane Bond. Could have been very bad had Swan and Harris not put on 97 as we were 7-137 when they came to the wicket. A much better batting display in the second innings thanks to Carseldine and some support for Philipson and Hartley.

With another bonus point, too. We were in awful strife with the bat before Hopes and Hartley put on an unbeaten 78 in no time (including 57 off the final five overs). While he isn't taking wickets in the four day game, Swan was all over them by nailing the first three and they were done at 4-23. Sheffield Shield: Victoria vs. Tasmania
Victoria Chris Rogers Nick Jewell David Hussey *Cameron White +Matthew Wade Aaron Finch Andrew McDonald John Hastings Damien Wright Mark Cleary Bryce McGain Queensland Ryan Broad Wade Townsend Lee Carseldine Chris Lynn +Chris Hartley Ben Dunk *James Hopes Ryan Harris Ben Cutting Luke Feldman Cameron Boyce IN: Cutting, Dunk OUT: Philipson, Swan Philipson has been averaging around 13 this season and had to go. Broad has also been awful, but has bought himself another chance with a fifty in the last game. Cutting gets his first game of the year replacing Swan who needs to find some form. He has 5 wickets @ 80 this year. Queensland 1st innings 268 all out Hopes 136 (259) Boyce 34* (79) Cutting 30 (59) Cleary 3-63 (15) McGain 2-16 (6) McDonald 2-25 (11.1) Victoria 1st innings 326 all out White 186* (375) McDonald 28 (52) Wade 24 (31) Boyce 3-68 (24.2) Cutting 3-77 (23) Feldman 2-55 (23) Queensland 2nd innings 9-346 dec. Carseldine 134 (282) Cutting 33* (55) Townsend 31 (119) White 5-97 (31) Cleary 1-46 (9) McGain 1-58 (19) Victoria 2nd innings 8-290 (Target: 289) Rogers 112 (142) Hussey 41 (45) McDonald 36 (57) Boyce 5-99 (21.3) Hopes 1-13 (7) Feldman 1-36 (10) Victoria won by 2 wickets (Vic 6, Qld 0) Man of the Match: Cameron White Gutting! ![]() Hopes and Boyce were immense with the bat in the first innings as they added 107 for the tenth wicket - we were 7-76 at one point anyway. I thought we bowled well to everyone but White in Victoria's first innings, and then batted ourselves into a winning position. In hindsight, perhaps I didn't set them enough in two sessions but Rogers went bezerk and they chased it down with an over to spare. |

We got off to a real shaky start but were saved by the middle order. Was going to be a pretty ordinary total before Hartley exploded by hitting Cleary for twenty off his first five before getting out to White. The quicks did well with the ball, but Boyce and Simpson copped some real stick. |

Good win in that last game, also good that the side's started to settle a bit
