Ice Cricket

Hello All,

I wanted to let you know about Ice Cricket & its home in Tallinn, Estonia.

Ice Cricket was invented in 2001 by Jason Barry, the Estonian Cricket Coach. Every year, tournaments are held in Tallinn wich aer open to teams from across the globe.

Estonia is the home of real ice cricket and it has been since its invention.

The capital city, Tallinn, is also a stunning and beautiful back-drop to this internationally recognised series of tournaments. Its medieval charm, hospitality and entertainment options are legendary; its the perfect place for a pre season tour, a post season tour or even just a great excuse to take a break.

With winter temperatures in the areas of minus 10 to minus 25, the tournaments are played on Harku boating lake, which freezes over rapidly in early January. The wicket is solid flat ice and the outfiled is snow, the latter being useful for those diving catches! Fortunately if the lake is not frozen over we can use the indoor ice facilities at the former Russian Missile factory, the Jeti hall.

Bizarre? You bet. Fun? For sure!

Please have a look at our site to see the video & to have a flavour of the fun:

Thanks for your comments, guys.

It's difficult. There is a bit of promotion there but I'm hoping that people will be interested. After all, this is cricket-related, it's new & it's barmy. What better for cricket fans?

I had a long look at the website last winter, but unfortunately the tournament dates don't match my half-term holiday - if ever they did it's something I'd love to do.
