Portsmouth could not afford the transfer fee, Redknapp doesn't have much money to spend, if that at all.

And besides Cudicini's wages would probably be a killer for them.

Unless he went on loan, but Chelsea would ban him from playing against them anyway, like what they usually do, which makes perfect sense IMO.
