Bit pathetic in a major championships that the 1500m runners are delayed at the start for well over 5 minutes as there is a technical fault. Backwards country who can't cope with hosting a major event. Notice the huge amount of empty seats too which is shocking.

Who gives a **** about the 1500m? Hasn't been worth anything since Herb won it in Rome. People over here aren't interested in going to big school sports carnivals. Firstly, they're sick of winning them. Secondly, they'd rather go to the beach when the weather is decent. Thirdly, it's footy season, and all four codes are up and running which is more important than the walk in the park for Australia which is the Commonwealth Games. The Poms are interested in running because most of them want to run away from the shower.

To be fair it had been absolutely teeming it down for the time beforehand when I flicked over, could barely see the runners in one race.

Am I the only one who has laughed at the Aussie diving pair who flunked the last dive and the England 200m runner who got disqualified? Sometimes it is fun laughing at the misfortune of fancied people in major championships.

So it seems the NZ mountain bikers who won gold and silver aren't huge fans of one another. Awkward scenes after the race.

The women's hockey semi-final was a nail-biter, but our goalie was superb in the shootout.

About time Johnson-Thompson won a gold. Great effort by Emerson who is only 18 getting the bronze and making up the 12 seconds she had to on the Aussie in the 800m. Our future looks bright in that event at least though at world level the Olympic Champ will take some stopping.

Disappointing to see Adams and McCartney pipped for golds tonight. They both did well, but were short of their PBs.
