Wahoo, Danny Ric qualifies 5th in Monza with the Renault new spec engine. Is this the beginning of the Renault resurgence, or just another false dawn...

Just watched highlights of the Italian GP last night.

Holy crap was Vettel's rejoin a sloppy affair. No wonder he's being copping all of this flack lately.

It is a result entirely consistent with other performances this season.
Hardly, Renault 4th and 5th in the race gives 21 points more than McLaren, so the season goal of 4th in constructors is now back on track.

The drivers fight for 6th (best of the rest) should be interesting with Gasley, Sainz, Danny Ric and now Albon all in the fight.

Honestly pretty chuffed that Renault bagged a decent result. I think its important that F1 has another big name constructor bringing the fight to the big three.

Hopefully next season we see Macca & the yellow teapots picking up a few cheeky wins (even better if they are on merit).

Will be interesting to see how Renault go next year. The program has a fair bit of coin behind it, but that is no guarantee in of itself (Toyota F1 springs to mind). Hope for Ricciardo's sake they can take a step forward

Renault have qualified and performed well at other power tracks this season. Them doing well at Monza isn't out of character with what we've seen.

The 21 points is, but that's partly a reflection of Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel's troubles.

Apparently Schuey is now conscious thanks to his latest round of stem cell treatment.

Didn't know that stem cell treatment was legal in Europe, but am glad it is.

Has anyone overtaken another driver this season without there being some mechanical failure involved?

When DRS was introduced I remember reading that the % of overtakes per race had doubled.

But still, if DRS was given the arse next race (and it very well should), I think you'd find the stat would be pretty much the same. Basically the sport has been reduced to an artificial "tyre-management" gambit. You even see drivers out there who willingly give up track position because it makes more sense for them to conserve their tyres, rather than have an on-track battle with another driver & risk destroying their rubber.

Geez, Renault boss saying they are going for a young driver from their talent pool in 2021. As Occon is signed for 2020/21 this means Danny Ric will be out of a seat.

So much for him joining Renault so that he could challenge for wuns in 2020 and World title in 2021

Given that he´s on $45 million per year and will have suitors lining up, I can´t see him losing too much sleep

So looking forward to Singapore F1with highlights being:

(a) a night race, wahoo
(b) will Renault bring it on a not so fast track
(c) will Le Clerc beat Vettel again, therefore having Vettel quit F1 in disgust ;)

Ricciardo can't catch a break. Qualifies 8th but has to start last due to a battery spike being out of limits on his slowest qualifying lap.

I hear that P3 will be cancelled, and qualifying will happen the morning of the race.

Going to be a very interesting weekend.
