Norwood's on Fire
Yeah there's no appetite to overturn the referee's decision because it's apparently final.

Except when diving's involved, for some reason.
I’m all for stamping out diving but yeah it really is a skewed priority when career ending tackles can’t be reviewed. Diving impacts the game, it doesn’t end careers

I'm not interested in kicking up a fuss about diving when tackles like the one on Sané go unpunished.

Guardiola has apparently given up on giving young players chances. Shame as he's an excellent coach and did this really well at Barcelona. Why do they need to buy Mahrez as well?

BARNES OUT
Presumably, Mahrez is the target because the club wants to win the Champions League and he's still able to play in it, which was also one of the allures of Sanchez. Diaz and Foden have a cumulative age of 35, and despite being immensely talented cannot be relied on in the biggest games of the season. We have 2 forwards for 3 forward positions right now with Both Jesus and Sane out for long periods. Aguero has a long history of muscle injuries. It makes all of the sense in the world, really.

That said I doubt it will happen, they will want more money than the club will pay. The only way I could see it happening is if Mahrez really pushes for it behind the scenes.

Foden is also injured according to Twitter.

It’s a bollocks narrative anyway. Almost no 17/18 year olds are ready to start senior games. By the time they reach the normal age to break through of 21-23, Mahrez’s initial contract will have run down. It doesn’t block their passage at all.

Mahrez is an absolutely beautiful player. Anyone who wouldn’t love him playing for their team has something wrong with them.

So you're telling me we should have kept Navas and Nolito

And it's those types that have been the thing "given up" on. They've mostly been sold or had their contracts expire and they haven't been replaced by similar types. It's why the Jonny Evans rumour was kinda weird

He's making twice as much as anyone we've ever had lol. Guess that's the end of Wenger's socialist wage structure.

Part of me wonders if Sanchez leaving was key to this.
I don't think the reports suggested he was one of the players who had beef with Sanchez. The Auba/Mkhi signings probably played a role, but I suspect they just upped their wage offer. This running down your contract for higher wages thing really works.
