I guess it was youth. Hadn't smartened up to what a quality player had to possess yet.

There is nothing that can be said that is good about England. The entire team and set-up are a shambles.
He (Alastair Cook) and his family are very much the sort of people we want the England captain and his family to be
    Giles Clark
What we are doing here is future-proofing county cricket

We want to make the game as simple as possible for them (mums and kids) to understand

2007 maybe? In 2006 when he went the WC he hadnít played for Arsenal yet

Walcott a bit of a hype victim for mine. He was generally pretty good but only ever attracted criticism for not being even better. Suppose it's what happens when you don't win anything.

Elm, he do brood. And Oak, he do hate. But the Willow-man goes walking, If you stays out late.
A reasonably talented, but ultimately completely one dimensional, player imo. Extremely reliant on one or two key attributes (i.e. being very fast and a pretty decent finisher). Take those away and you've not really got much left.

I suppose the hype about Walcott all boiled down to that one match in Croatia.

I would suggest that there are less talented players who have achieved more, for whatever reasons.
