Leicester City - Premier League Champions 2015/16

Unbelievable isn't it?

I forgive the heartbreak the foxes caused young me for the way they've turned everything on its head this season. Superb

Is this the most unlikely/incredible result in sporting history? Nothing I can think of comes close.

You could maybe think of something from individual sports or some matches, but in a team sports over a course of an entire season? It's got to be miles above the rest. Unbelievable.

25th April 2015 - Leicester get out of the bottom 3 for the first time in the season.
2nd May 2016 - Leicester win the Premier League title.

The only thing I can think of recently is Jenson Button's F1 title win in 2009.
That was explainable due to Brawn being a brilliant technical director, and a diffuser that really pushed the rules to the limit. This is something else.

Becker winning Wimbledon at 16 is about the closest thing I can think of, but this is more outlandish IMO, given the number of matches played, opposition involved etc. Just a great achievement.

Nah, not even remotely close, as I posted in the Football thread these odds are just stupendous. People trying to rationalize it into other things are failing because this is just ****ing stupid, really the most absurd sporting thing I've seen. There's not one person in the World that would have thought that 5000-1 on Leicester wasn't just about right. 22 people backed them at that, probably for a laugh.

Becker was actually close to 18, had just won Queens and was only out of Wimbledon a year before because of an injury. Was ranked 20th, grass-court specialist, but yeah it was a hella of a shock, but not in the ball-park. Chang's was probably bigger, but again not the same.

Golf may have something, when John Daly was ninth alternate for the 1991 USPGA I doubt they were giving prices out for him then. Nick Price pulled out and the other 8 in front of him couldn't make it. So that's the kind of pure unlikeliness you need. Yet once he got in the Tournament, no chance it's the same.

This is miles ahead of everything. Wasn't Greece to win the Euro in 2004 still only 500-1 or something?

Nothing comes close because of the length of time necessary to win it. You can't just fluke a couple of knock out wins.

Yeah this is over 38 games. You just expect runs like this to end at some point and for everyone to shrug and go "Oh well, it was fun". This just kept going and never ended. I've never seen anything like it.

North Carolina State winning the 82-83 NCAA Tournament has to be close. A team of nobodies with a crazy coach beat Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon/Clyde Drexler to win a National Championship.

Richmond's 2016 AFL premiership win after being 1-5 to start the season up there too.

When sport's prizes are basically shared amongst a cartel you have to wait too long for a Leicester to come along and when they do the wait makes it special.

I don't want to put too fine a point on it, but I consider it somewhat inspiring personally.

There are so many things in life my unconscious brain tells me I'm not able to do, most of them are far more achievable theoretically than Leicester winning the EPL.

EDIT: Don't give up Parra fans!

Cricket equivalent would be Bangladesh winning a 5-match Test series at Australia.
