Vimes' Köln played their first match in the afternoon kick off at the Emirates stadium, and the away side were left to rue Tevez's missed penalty on the stroke of half time. It would've seen them go into the break a goal up. As it were, less than a quarter of an hour after the resumption, they were a two down, thanks to an impressive finish on the edge of the box from Thiago and Ronaldo getting on the end of Carvajal's powerful whipped cross. Köln managed to pull one back, after Eriksen was sent through and squared it to Tevez to find some form of redemption, but it wasn't enough for the away side. A second win for the home side meanwhile, left them in a strong position in group B.
