I don't wanna be that guy... but was that one of the greatest Semi Finals? The quality of tennis was unbelievable.

Having my wisdom teeth taken out in 7 hours. Dammit.

So good, both were clutch as **** in that 5th set. Going final on Sunday, the perfect match. Second time I'll see Rafa vs Fed. Last time was 2014 but this time it's a final!

Also Anil I'll be impressed if you still think the crowd wanted Dimitrov to win and Nadal isn't popular. That would be Richard levels of stubbornness.

it was too late at night for me so i didn't watch it and i don't know, as i said i don't really care one way or the other...just was venturing an opinion while responding to burgey's post...in any case, ****, ****, ****! rafa is going to become the 1st man in the open era to win all 4 majors at least 2 times...another point for him in the GOAT discussion...

Why? Fed is the one who behaves a bit weird. Never got that vibe from Nadal.
it is not about behaving weird...stuff like him crying when he loses because he wants it so much, it is at least an honest reaction for mine although it is not always the most dignified or gracious when you are in the public eye...he doesn't have any false modesty, he has actually shown himself to be quite arrogant if you look at his various comments over the years...

i believe you need that ego, that extreme confidence or arrogance to get to (and stay at) his and rafa's level, which is why the humble face rafa puts on publicly when talking about his performances and his rivals has always rung false to me...doesn't diminish his stature as a tennis player to me, i just don't believe him when he makes those statements...and he is not the only sportsman to do that of course...

yes in his demeanor and the way he carries himself on court...you can't really hide that at his level which is why his comments/statements are a little jarring for me...it contradicts the rarified air he breathes as a tennis player...

Yeah but that can be a lot like Kohli saying he rates Root and Williamson above him as test players.. You can be pretty certain he wouldn't be nice to them when on the field.

well kohli is not at rafa's level in his sport yet...it could still be false modesty or a diplomatic comment but it may also be an honest self-evaluation of himself as a test player...also it is one thing to be competitive on the court/field, if you know you are better than someone else and has proved that again and again...but still says publicly that you aren't, that is hypocritical to me...you don't have to be considered a prick just because you say it out loud...with djokovic, it is a real rivalry and i get it if he thinks novak is better than him (it is at least arguable) but with federer and their lopsided head-to-head, it is clearly not the same...
