The Berdych/Ferrer quarter seems ripe for an upset. Lopez probably won't threaten on clay, instead I think Cuevas and Monaco could do damage there.

Wawrinka section could get interesting, he's not the most reliable seed and Raonic/Cilic aren't at their best on clay. Pouille could go deep given his current form (though he has had luck) and maybe Dimitrov wakes up....

On paper I'd give Kohlschreiber/Almagro a chance of beating Goffin and Tsonga but that probably won't happen.

If Kyrgios was in any other of the 5-8 seeds section then I'd tip him to make the quarters but Nishikori is the favourite for that match IMO.

As for unseeded players making the second week (i.e. 4th round or better), Zverev has a good shot, I already mentioned Monaco and Almagro as potential bolters, Rosol maybe a shot given he'll face Wawrinka early (where he may be more upset-prone) and there's not really anyone else that looks unbeatable in that section and Jono's boy has a good chance of facing off with Murray (which is easy to say now but looked possible for a while beforehand - Paire and Isner are very beatable), Coric's draw looks pretty good before Djokovic and Dzumhur beat a couple of Top 10 players earlier in the year....

Shame that there doesn't seem to be too many good clay specialists these days, else some of the quarters would look very interesting.

Murray having a bit of a poor start..losing the first 2 sets...got the third and 5-3 up in the fourth...clearly winning against Djokovic has gone to his head somewhat...

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
suspension of play came at the right time for Stepanek, he looked cooked. Probably a sneaky chance now.

At 5-4 30-30 he had his chance and buggered it. Muzz played like a GS champion does on the critical points.

Aye, Step had similar moments against Novak at Wimbledon a few years ago when he lost in four really tight sets, but just couldn't finish it, small margins etc.

Murray will probably get through this 2nd round match as well. But think he wants to avoid to many 5 set matches early rounds when he is facing Djokovic later....

Murray playing very negative tennis here which is killing him, props to Bourgue, but he really be putting this guy away in his sleep.

What even is this match. Murray could have finally finished things off and he gets broken again! Madness. I kind of want to see Murray get to the final having to play 5 sets every match.

yeah he is not going to get far with novak or even stan if he expends all his energy during the 1st week itself...

rafa and roger out, andy and stan expending significant hours on court in the early rounds...novak doesn't have any excuse left for not winning this year's tournament...
