    Uhhh Roger?

Down a set and a break to Wawrinka (my boy!) in the 3rd round of Monte Carlo.

Seriously looking like losing atm. Forehand is a mess.

Wonder if he can come back.

    No he can't!

Wawrinka is the man! 6-4 7-5

I fail to see how anyone can argue that Roger is still be the #2 player in the world. He simply isn't atm.

Will do if he manages to avoid Murray, if he doesn't then even on clay i would expect Murray to beat him.

Federer lifts for big tournaments, hes been in this "slump" for over a year now and hes still managed to make pretty much every slam final in that time. Plus hes still on his ridiculous streak of what? 18 or so straight slam semi final appearances.

Oh yeah I expect him to make the semi but I think Murray has got under his skin now, just like Nadal has. Thin Federer's best chance of making the final is for Murray to lose the before the semi which is very possible. They could of course not be on the same side of the draw.

    Murray's clay record: W11 L14.

I suppose his quite-decent first serve is negated a lot, and he hits too many unforced errors. Plus he doesn't play enough to get used to the length and so on. Will be very surprised if he makes the semi, anyway, lots of decent unseeded clay-courters atm.

Yeah semi would be a massive achievement from Murray. Defnitely think his Clay court record is going to improve dramatically though. Reckon he'd be pleased with a couple of semis at the masters and 4th rd/QF at RG. That should be enough to get up to 3.

Murray should struggle today against Davydenko, would normally expect Davydenko to win easily but he played a 3 setter earlier today and hasn't played a lot this year so fatigue might come in to effect.

Decent effort from Murray, never really had a chance but to not bad to take one of the sets to a tb, Nadal hasn't lost a set at Monaco for a few years. Will be happy with his week.

Yeah, nothing more needs to be said. Novak played a good match though. Collapsed mentally in the 3rd set when he didn't break in the first game.

How stiff was Davydenko to play two matches in a day lol.

nadal has to be the greatest claycourter ever, even the great bjorn borg didn't have this kind of an invincible aura on the surface...and that too at the age of 22!

Jono's a big tennis fan, he watches a lot of it and judges the players on what he sees. Me, i follow everything but judge players 95% on what they do in the Slams. Raising their game when it matters is what makes a player for me. In ten years, noone's going to look at Federer's career and point at that time he went out in the first round of an early-season claycourt tournament to Wawrinka (an excellent player on clay, incidentally). We'll look back at what he did on the biggest stage in tennis. That's why Federer's still number 2 for me without a moment's hesitation.

I agree Federer is still the second best because hes ranked number 2, probably more so than any other sport tennis rankings are fairly accurate because to make progress you have to be consistent over a 12 month period, over the past 12 months Federer has gained the second most ammount of points through performing in the big tournaments. This imo makes him world number 2 fairly and squarely.
