Jeez, tough 1st round here for Venus. 6-7, 7-5, 6-3. Just closed it out.
Got on her after the first set. Was ****ting myself when she was 4-5 down in the 2nd.

Just goes to say, if you want to have a chance at beating Serena or Venus in a Grand Slam, you seriously have to do it in the first week. Its when they are at their most vulnerable.

Dushevina didn't do it, and I reckon Venus should make the semis from here.

The presentation of the US Open has been incredibly poor so far, so much so that I doubt I'll be watching any more.

The commentary is horrendous for starters. Can barely believe what I'm hearing, I'm not eight years old for crying out loud, stop treating me like it. Also, do some research on players that aren't Tsonga, Roddick, Williams, kthx.

And then the bias to the stronger player in the camera work is insane. Here I am supporting Rogowska against Safina, and I get fourteen consecutive cut-aways to Safina at the beginning of the second set. Absurd.

Rogowska in with a real chance here! A break up in the third. Was HUUUUUUUUUUGE underdog before the match.

Just got on her, still underdog despite being 3-0 up!

Don't choke, you can do this, aoiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

**** off. 3-0 up and 2 break points and you lose the set 6-4.

Oh well. Safina lives to fight another day. Fair paly to her for getting through that.

Cilic  Up 2-0 in sets, leads 4-3, gives away service game with two double faults, breaks back, only to lose the next service game to love with another couple of double faults.

Bizarre.

Nice work Melzer :)

The coverage of this isn't great here. Not like Wimbledon where you can watch pretty much any match you want.

Lack of matches on at decent times has stopped me watching so far, apart from the odd bit before hit the hay. Might watch a bit of the Murray match tonight though

Kiefer playing some great tennis here vs Nadal. One set all, Rafa just breaking to go 5-3 up in the 3rd.
Have to say Nadal doesn't look that great here, but should go through now.

In what appears to be CW's Forgotten Open, Lleyton Hewitt's just taken the first set against Federer in a repeat of the glorious 2004 final. Looks like a good match coming up.

From the BBC commentary:

1701:Federer holds his serve to steady the ship, but as sea-faring vessels go the Swiss looks as stable as a pedalo piloted by Freddy Flintoff.
