Did Saba bottle it in another Slam? :toot:
i don't know that she bottled it, that would be true if she went down tamely in two sets or if she threw away a ton of matchpoints or something...i think it was more that she was beaten by someone who played better, refused to quit...

Holy ****, that rally was phenomenal.
Was that the one in the game where Maria barely held on to her serve? Yeah was mental.

Actually been a fun second set , Maria much more competitive now. And yeah it does feel a bit weird typing that considering her pedigree

A lazy term as it slightly demeans Fernandez who was fantastic.

However it was a wretched tie break in set 1 where she lost the plot and that game 10 if set 3 where she served 2 double faults and hit 2 monster errors to get broke to love and lose the match! Standard Saba at crucial moments she can't get it done.

Not arsed about the male final whatsoever compared to the ladies one.

yeah and the fact that a male player is about to make history and you don't even want to watch it says something about that player and his legacy regardless of how many majors he ends up winning...

but yes, promises to be a fantastic teen battle on saturday!

Dominant from Radanacu, and with Barty out the draw opens up for her, it is the WTA so a Fernandez-Emma final is on, both 18 year olds born in Canada to a Chinese parent.

Yet Still a lot of big names left, generally the draw hasn't fallen apart like it normally does.
Not bad. :notworthy

Great stuff from both teens, as for them both being so low-ranked, one a qualifier, should be said, that if it hadn't been for covid, both would have played much more in a formative time.

Emma took her A levels rather than go through the strain of bubbles and travelling, a move which seems to have worked quite well.

It probably is the most lowly ranked final ever. But this isn't two 30 something double specialists who've never been in the top 30 singles suddenly appearing in a final. These girls are top class and based purely on ability they should be regularly in the final stages of the big tournaments in the future.

yeah the fact that the just turned 19 year old with absolutely no experience on this stage showed more mental fortitude than her is very telling...

both these kids are terrific...emma takes the first but leylah saves 3 break points early in the 2nd and is now up a break...have to see how raducanu would react to the loss of a set if that happens here...

I’m trying hard to get over my hatred of tennis commentators because I really wanted to watch this one, but the lead just called the court a ‘rectangle of possibilities’.

Haha yep. It was really fun in the end and I used to enjoy tennis but it also reminded me why I stopped watching it.
