Anyway, Norway's group is easy enough. Should be able to get second place if we play well. Belarus are tough, Scotland struggled in a group with Iceland and Lithuania this year, Slovenia always seem to play better than we'd like them to, could be scary. Italy - well we'll have to hope for underestimation...

Edit for spelling errors. There may be more, I copied this off a Norwegian site.

No, I didn't. I never forgot to highlight USA. USA was always there in bold.

*Iraqi information minister mode off*

Obviously you're very happy with the draw, since you refuse to discuss it...

It's simple, I am not going to make a prediction because it will quite probably blow up in my face BUT it does look a very nice group for us with Poland being the only problem.

Norway's nearest competitor should be Scotland but will most likely end up being Slovenia.

 indeed. Do wish I had your imagination, LE (though it mainly revolves around big mammals and small birds)

Found out the same as you, PY, of course we're excluding Italy here. They'll walk Norway's group. Scotland are too weak at the moment.

My predictions:
Group 1: 1) Netherlands, 2) Czech Republic, 3) Romania, 4) Finland, 5) Armenia, 6) FYR Macedonia, 7) Andorra
Group 2: 1) Turkey, 2) Greece, 3) Ukraine, 4) Denmark, 5) Georgia, 6) Albania, 7) Kazakhstan
Group 3: 1) Russia, 2) Portugal, 3) Latvia, 4) Slovakia, 5) Estonia, 6) Liechtenstein, 7) Luxembourg
Group 4: 1) France, 2) Rep of Ireland, 3) Israel, 4) Switzerland, 5) Cyprus, 6) Faero Islands
Group 5: 1) Italy, 2) Slovenia, 3) Norway, 4) Scotland, 5) Belarus, 6) Moldova
Group 6: 1) England, 2) Poland, 3) Wales, 4) Austria, 5) Azerbaijan, 6) Northern Ireland
Group 7: 1) Spain, 2) Serbia & Montenegro, 3) Bosnia Hercegovina, 4) Belgium, 5) Lithuania, 6) San Marino
Group 8: 1) Sweden, 2) Bulgaria, 3) Croatia, 4) Iceland, 5) Hungary, 6) Malta.

Portugal and Poland to qualify as best 2nd placed team.

Czech Republic, Serbia & Montenegro and Portugal to win play-offs.

Fully reasonable. Serbia have a very solid team and was unlucky not to finish ahead of Wales in their World Cup group. Bosnia drew and beat Denmark, and outclassed Norway (although the score was only 1-0) at home. Belgium, in contrast, put on a poor show against Croatia and Bulgaria.

All this being in the Euro qualifiers.

Serbia are the Former Yugoslavia, and had Bosnia managed a late winner against Denmark they would have been in Euro 2004.

so how does this thing work for teams to qualify for the football world cup..

is it top 2 teams play each other or what ?

For Europe, top teams in each group qualify (they all play each other twice). Also two best 2nd placed teams qualify (they work that out by adding up the points against the four best in the group, then they rank the teams according to points).

The other 2nd placed teams are drawn against each other for a double-legged play-off.

The others I don't now. World Cup Website - check that out, maybe it'll help you (I think Africa is just the five group winners - not that anybody cares)

If Northern Ireland get a goal, I will be dumbfounded.

And with Iraq they wont get torturted if they lose unlike what Saddam's sons did to them (*remembers the George Bush thread*), and go Uzbekistan.

Oceania is two groups of five.

Top two progress into a final group of six (+Aus & NZ)

Winners lose to South American team
