Tennis/ balls Q.

Merve'sTash

Im soon after 20 odd yrs or so (!) going to start tennis again. Got my Kneissl 80's racket out and rearing to go.. But, I remember one aspect that always puts me off a bit: tarmac courts (innevitably/ lamentbly 9/10 local courts are) and the hugely annoying way the ball bounces so high that it ruins a game (I'm always confused whether this was a 'fast' court or a 'slow' court/ ball/ combination).

You see Ive been pondering the different way a tennis ball/ surface reacts and wonder if there is, like squash and its coloured dots, a 'slower' ball (or, a 'faster' ball/ as above I dont understand 'speed' terms in relation to tennis courts/ balls per se) that's designed for use on a tarmac to possibly mimics the lower less bouncy aspect of say an astro turf, or ideally even a grass court. So you can have a good game: grass courts are SO much more enjoyable to play on- simple as. Anyone have any idea? has ball technology developed at all with this in mind, or is it just one type available regardless of what its going to bounce on- and you lump it still? Seems archaic if so.

Thx MT
