    Johnson resigns as England manager

    From the BBC.

All in all it's been a disappointing tenure from the great man. We had an abject world cup and the buck stops with the man who makes the calls.

Johnson put too much faith in the players he'd played with himself. Maybe he was just too close in age to his charges.

Interesting Mallett and White have both already distanced themselves from the gig.

Henry said he fancied manging in Europe again, didn't he...?
    - As featured in The Independent.

"This is not the time for namby-pamby promising youngsters who might just do something; not the time for building for the future. Pragmatism rules and they don't come more pragmatic than Rogers."
    - Victor Marks makes the case for stiff-legged and stiff-armed 35 year old left-handers in Ashes squads

England were paaaainful to watch under Johnson. In five years we'll all look back on his reign and shudder violently.

    Completely DWTA.

Johnson never instilled any discipline into the team. That was the big problem with him.

From some of the anonymous quotes attributed to the players, it seems some of the senior players effectively treated the tour as one long drinking session, with a bit of rugby in between.

Haha, have to say, as a non-rugby fan I find this all incredibly amusing.

    Just staggering.

I'm always slightly skeptical with such leaks, because they're normally made public by someone with their own agenda to pursue, but given what we saw on and off the pitch one's inclined to believe there's more than a kernel of truth in it.

Paints a picture of a set up that's not fit for purpose and, given the ****ing abortion that is the RFU, that's no real surprise. It's no wonder Mallett, White & now Henry are keen to give us a swerve; no one wants to board a train as it hurtles towards the buffers at high speed.

Only chap to emerge with credit could be off to Wales as well. Leekists fancy Rowntree.

Eddie Jones will take the job - think his hand shoots up at any coaching opportunity tbh - Basket cases or no.

Met him some years ago and that is a fairly apt description

His nickname was something like "Teflon" as nothing ever stuck to him and again, that seems pretty appropriate as his term at the RFU has been an absolute disaster and he still has a job

It looks fairly unlikely that anyone associated with English rugby isn't a total cock at the moment.

True, but Rob Andrew really didn't come across well on SSN the other day.
