Could be a masterstroke. Firstly, I think they'll play him at centre where he was awesome for NSW. That's Inglis/Jennings money, but not unheard of for the position. Secondly the new TV rights deal could result in a significant increase in the salary cap, making that perhaps a reasonable amount of money for a quality centre in 2014. Last but not least the kid is an absolute gun.
Obviously the risk is that after two years away from the game he will be unfit and have lost his touch never to get it back again, but the potential is there for it to be a brilliant move. |
