Hard to be specific when everything you're saying is just crap.

Gotta love it when you can't even point out one example. It's okay Matteh, I've read enough to know you post a one-off smartass comment and leave. As I said, have the balls to say something with some salt or stop wasting bandwidth.

Yeah just look at the return they made on Robbie Keane in just a few short months.

Anyway the money debate is boring (and ridiculous) but your attitude towards Hodgson is what is quite so astonishingly ****.

I am not going to pretend that Rafa did not have some success with Liverpool but the reality is that Liverpool came 7th last year and face a very uncertain time off the pitch. If Hodgson gets 4th it will be a very good achievement especially considering that Man city will be spending about 4345 billion pounds again this summer

As much as I rate Woy, he won't have the same pulling power regarding top players that Bentiez did. If he has to sell any of Gerrard, Torres or Mascherano (let alone all three) to raise money then Liverpool might not even bother turning up this season.

They'd need City/Chelsea type money to bring in proper replacements and then a lot more to improve the squad on top of that to compete with next year's Spurs and City teams. Hoping he does well though, really like Hodgson as a bloke.

So because they sold Keane for less that's the same fate for Torres, Mascherano and Gerrard? Please, get a grip, stop talking nonsense. I said you can't talk about money wasted when all the money spent is still in the squad. The danger is those players leaving and Hodgson not being able to attract the right players in return. I don't think Torres or Gerrard will leave this season - I think Mascherano might - but I don't believe they'll stay further than this year unless we achieve better than merely top 4. As I said, if all we wanted was a top 4 place, we already had a manager who practically assured that almost every year and we wouldn't have had to spend 8 million pounds in the process, downgrading our coach.

I didn't mind when Benitez left, and I still wouldn't if we had gotten a coach better than Roy. But the appointment of Roy symbolises a lot that's crap with the club and little that is good.

The money is not still in the squad. The clown had a net spend well over £100m. Compare the squads between now and 2004-2005. It would be a stretch to say the current squad is more valuable, let alone the massive difference totted up. That's apart from the fact that the current squad is far more reliant on a few players and has no depth whatsoever - so as far as on the pitch is concerned it is worse.

No, his net spend is about 75m. He spent 230m and sold 155m.

Torres + Mascherano alone would/could cover that. The squad in 04-05 was worthless in comparison and few of those players went anywhere better or notable. Barely any actually turned a profit. That's why it's idiotic to point to Rafa's CL success in using Houllier's squad. He won the title despite most of the squad, not because of them. Few from that team actually stayed on and were useful - Gerrard, Carragher, Hyypia, Finnan, Hamann, Dudek and that's about it, really. Only 3 members of that side remained that came runner-up just a year ago.

Now might be a good time to tap up Mesut Ozil as he is coming into his final year of his contract with Werder.
