No, his net spend is about 75m. He spent 230m and sold 155m.

Torres + Mascherano alone would/could cover that. The squad in 04-05 was worthless in comparison and few of those players went anywhere better or notable. Barely any actually turned a profit. That's why it's idiotic to point to Rafa's CL success in using Houllier's squad. He won the title despite most of the squad, not because of them. Few from that team actually stayed on and were useful - Gerrard, Carragher, Hyypia, Finnan, Hamann, Dudek and that's about it, really. Only 3 members of that side remained that came runner-up just a year ago.
Can we please get over the fact that regardless of the net spend, a lot of his buys were crap, the fact that they were sold off for whatever good value does not mask this fact. Not to anyone else anyway.

As I said, if all we wanted was a top 4 place, we already had a manager who practically assured that almost every year and we wouldn't have had to spend 8 million pounds in the process, downgrading our coach.

I didn't mind when Benitez left, and I still wouldn't if we had gotten a coach better than Roy. But the appointment of Roy symbolises a lot that's crap with the club and little that is good.
Yes you already had a manager who could guarentee that. Shame he was waving his **** to every chairman in Europe because your clubs a mess. Shame no one of equal skill would take the job, because your clubs a mess. Roys the only bugger in the world with a CV past '4 seasons on FM2010' who'll manage you, because your clubs a mess.

It was either spend £8m on a downgrade, or spend nothing, keep a coach who doesnt want to be there, watch the players performances get even worse because of it, and lose even more revenue as you slip down the league.

Now when your shiny new saviours take over the club, come back and talk about Pelligrini, until then, tough.

Where on earth do you get 8 from?

And I see Kris Boyd clearly going for a gradual step up in quality of league rather than show himself up by going to the Premier league...

Haha Rose, where the **** do you get 8 from? We've got Rooney, Hernandez, Berbatov and Owen, so thats 3.5 at best. Can see us getting shot of Dimi if we get a decent offer, Owen will be offski too.

Hernandez is unproven, and probably one for a season or two (him and Macheda, who's still not really ready for the big stage. Owen is injury prone and will probably look for more regular football elsewhere now he's at least 1 further down the pecking order. Berbatovs a luxury, and whilst he's nice to have, he's not consistent enough and doesnt play well enough with Rooney to base an attack around. We need 3 top strikers, and Berbatov should be the 3rd..... Then a few youngsters to cover for injuries..... Either way one injury and we dont want to have to fall back on kids

Need a replacement for Scholes as well.

Think United need to spend some money this year to match Chelsea.

Yeah Benayoun is a bit of an odd signing as well.

Ballack gone so would expect them to replace him (although Essien will be back)

Expect quite a few Germans will be attracting quite a bit of attention.
