Is it a bit short sighted for the clubs to be so against the sub rule? It was brought in because losing a rotation made the game uneven according to the coaches, now that the problem has been fixed perhaps everyone is overlooking the benefits.

Bomber Thompson said the year after the cats won the flag they struggled with constancy of effort the next year and played only in patches at the elite intensity required to win a GF. Perhaps the Hawks are in the same boat now hoping they can flick the switch later in the year.

He said that about Geelong in 2008? Really?

I thought he's on record saying the Cats in 2008 were at their very best. Said as much on Open Mike.

He thought the goal kicking in the GF was a symptom of the mucking around all year trying to see who could get the most assists between Mooney and co. and they lost the focus that was driven by a burning desire to win the GF the year before. On the big day their kicking fell to pieces as they hadn't trained themselves to play finals football. They still belted everyone that year during the home and away season.

Hawks will still finish top 4, but playing 2.5 quarters a game all year could embed bad habits.

Limit on interchange lessens the effect of an injured player in itself.

Let's get Ablett and Beams back to Melbourne, get Rockliff to move states, and then just get rid of Queensland footy.

Or just get rid of Queensland.... either / or.

QLD club Brisbane Lions have contributed a fair bit to the comp - 3 premierships in the past 15 years is good going.

I guess if they spend another 19-20 (34 or 35 in total) miserable years without winning the flag, the AFL can look at getting rid of them.
