I for one welcome new Essendon coach Hayden Skipworth

but seriously, i struggle to see Hird quitting before the AFL suspends him. and thursday would be a weird day to announce it too.

Any chance that they've asked Hird to step down as it means there's more chance the players will get off lighter? Basically just heap it on one (or more) bloke to save the players.

In terms of bans, the players have seemingly be saved, for now anyway (the saga will never really end, journalists - rightly - will always be digging for more so there'll always be the chance that one day....). It's possible he's saving the points Essendon have gathered this year, but he could have just decided he's getting banned so let's move on. (or he might not be quitting at all)

****ing hell I hate this club so ****ing much.

Although the positive in all of this is I sometimes wondered whether my hate for Essendon was an irrational hate back in 2006-07 etc. But the way they treated Knights, and then this year, has 100% backed up everything I have thought of them.
