Gary Lawson is a bit of a ****, all told. Was in and out of the NZ teams due to having a crack at the administrators. He's also been waging a war against NZ Thoroughbred Racing after his wife, jockey Judy Lawson was left in hospital for months with head injuries after a fall at a racecourse, so he's had other things on his mind for the last few years. But he would have come out with his abrasive comments regardless of his wife's accident - he's just that kind of person.
And why would a NZ team throw a match when in all likelihood we probably just choked as usual anyway.
I didn't know there was money to be made in throwing bowls matches.
