Would be chuffed with Brock-Carwin and the winner to fight the winner of JDS and Velasquez. Heh @ Mir though, outstanding to see him get face raped again. This time by a poor man's Brock. Did you see them standing next to each other after the fight? Brock looked like he could eat him.

GSP is just a weapon though, he took the puncher's chance out of the equation straight off the bat, the 50-43 from one judge was very very harsh though. No way. GSP coming out to Juicy was epic though, never expected him to come out to Biggie's greatest song.

Fun card, but I like the next two from top down a bit more. Some of the undercard matches on those are going to be epic. Then 114 is Paige-Rashad. **** yeah!

Holy **** Frankie. When the first judge scored it 50-45 I feared another Shogun-Machida but wow, correct result imo. BJ got Pulvered again. Just not at the races today, second to every contest. Opens the hell out of the Lightweight division now.

Ok, this Silva fight has to be seen to be believed. Never seen such a farce as this. Silva is a nutcase. Coming down to 170 to face GSP? The guy just seems bored by how no-one can touch him.

He'd be ko'd by any boxer of a similar weight with a heart-beat unless he took them to the floor first

Both these guys are embarassingly bad but Silva is probably being dragged down to the other's level

He fancies himself a boxer, there's been plenty of talk about him and RJJ fighting once his UFC contract expires but as far as boxing in MMA goes, no-one comes near him. Claims to have had a couple of pro fights in Brazil back in the day too.

Disgraceful Main Event though. Crowd turning on this fast. Those GSP chants were brutal. Worse than the Leites fight by far because of how much of a punk Silva is acting like.

Maia blowing his nose and closing out his left eye, Silva has a chance to partially redeem himself by finishing this brutally.

EDIT Maia taking a heap of chances in that last round, Silva was disgracefully passive, like he was gassed but was hiding it. At least Damian won one round but I hope Silva gets clowned by whoever he comes up against next, whatever sport. The cheers for Maia and the boos after the match were vicious. Very insincere show of respect after the fight too.

Good to see the crowd and ref getting stuck into Silva - really poor show

Dumbass doesnt realise that AD would pay "anything" for a good performer

I really enjoyed the show-boating in the first 2 and a half rounds. Silva looked the genius he was hyped to be, and was doing damage. The 2nd half of the fight was just dire though, one of the worst performances I've seen since Houston Alexander's 'gameplan' against Kimbo. I honestly thought he'd started to suffer with his elbow injury, and was just trying to last out the 5 rounds; but it was worse than that.

However, I've not lost complete respect for the man. I still rate him as the #1 in the world, though Fedor's stock was risen in the past few weeks, what with GSP and Silva's poor performances and BJ's loss. I do still think Silva is the best fighter in the world, and it was just a poor performance. I just hope he puts it right in his next fight, and that this performance doesn't jeapordise the possibilities of a contract extension. Was a very poor fight though, was expecting Anderson to put Maia away quickly after what happened with Leites.

BJ deserved to lose his belt. I thought it was going to go as I predicted after the first 2 rounds, where I had BJ winning both, due to landing more and doing more damage; but in the last 3 rounds something just left BJ. I don't know whether it was the knee, or jet-lag or what but he looked a different fighter, and Edgar took advantage. I'm still in disbelief actually, I just didn't see how Frankie would get it done, but I have to give him props for proving me wrong and getting the win. I had the first 2 rounds to BJ, with the last 3 going to Frankie. Wasn't the most exciting of title fights, but at least it was more entertaining than the fight that followed.

Least we've got another 3 title fights this weekend, thanks to Scott Coker and Strikeforce. Really looking forward to all 3 Main card fights, with Henderson vs Shields, Mousasi vs Lawal and Melendez vs Aoki being 3 genuinely awesome fights. Shame Mayhem's not on the main-card, as I enjoy watching him fight, but the 3 title fights are so awesome that it makes up for the lack of Mayhem.

I would love to see Shields pull out the victory, and then move to the UFC. Strikeforce have paid out a lot of cash to get Henderson on board, with the sole intention of him coming in and taking the belt to give them a genuine big star (though his PPV pulling power in the US could be argued). Shields only has 1 fight left on his deal, and was one of Chuck's assistant coaches on TUF, so I'd love to see him put Henderson away and move over to the UFC to take on GSP.

Mousasi vs Lawal is the fight I'm most looking forward to. Mousasi's another guy I'd love to see in the UFC, so I'm cheering him on in this fight. However, Lawal is a serious threat (the only serious threat left in the SF LHW division). He has massively impressive wrestling credentials, is a real athlete, and seems really pumped for the fight. It's gonna be a great fight.

Aoki is taking the SF belt. Melendez is primarily a ground fighter, and he will not be able to handle the ground game of Aoki. Melendez is massively over-rated, doesn't really have many notable victories, and will be shown up when he takes on his first truely world class opponent. Again, I'd love to see Aoki in the UFC, though the chances of it happening are far slimmer than the chances of seeing Shields and Mousasi move over.

:-O  Dana's just announced Silva's next fight.

Chael Sonnen :D Cannot wait for this fight. Sonnen's game for a war, has olympic-calibre wrestling and the trash-talk in the build up is going to be magnificent. Really hope he pulls out the win. Sonnen's such a quality bloke. Grown to like him a lot in the last few months, his trash-talk prior to the Marquardt fight was hilarious. War Sonnen!

Strikeforce this weekend, a really fun TUF season so far and then Shogun-Machida around the corner a good few weeks coming up.

Apparently the SF card sucked, but I've not see it yet, looking forward to giving it a watch. Delighted that Shields schooled Henderson though. He's been treated like **** by Strikeforce. Was barely hyped, and Henderson was clearly brought in to beat Shields, knowing Jake was in the last fight of his Contract. Hopefully he'll tell SF where to stick their belt and move over to the UFC. I think he'd be a genuine contender in both the WW and MW divisions.

Nice to see a fight break-out after the Shields win too. Seen a youtube video of it and it was pretty funny. Miller randomly decides to come in and hype a possible re-match, says something that annoys Shields, Shields pushes him and then Team Cesar Gracie leap in and proceed to beat on Mayhem. Nick and Nate Diaz can be seen punching and kicking Miller, Melendez got involved, and Shields attempted to throw an early punch. Pretty disappointing for Strikeforce. They could lose their CBS contract, and I'm sure Dana White will be grinning from ear to ear.

Really couldn't have gone better for Dana. They lose Henderson to SF and he comes in looking in poor condition and gets schooled by Shields who is now out of contract; There was a massive brawl after the event that could cost SF their CBS deal; Aoki came in with hype and performed poorly; one of their potential big stars Mousasi utilised a terrible gameplan against a green wrestler who gassed in the first round. Couldn't have gone much worse for them really. Dana will be delighted, all he needs now is for Fedor to leave and agree to join the UFC, or lose to someone that either got cut from the UFC, or is near the end of their contract with SF.

A card that looked good on paper but was a disaster on screen.

It was a great card for the hardcore fans but network TV needs big names and big hits rather than tactical fights and L&P.

This showed that MMA (UFC included) is a long way from mainstream.

Missed posting on a few good events while I was in Japan, but watched them all and enjoyed most of it.

Just posting here to say, if anyone missed the WEC show last night, get on google and find a video of Leonard Garcia vs Chan Sung Jung, it is the craziest fight I have ever seen in my life, it was ****ing AWESOME. "The Korean Zombie" is a legendary hero and my new favourite fighter, most appropriate nickname of all time.

Yeah that was the worst decision ever though. Jung won that fight comfortably. Incredible card though, Aldo is absolutely legit (there were still a few doubters before the fight) and Urijah is going to be limping for a solid month at least after that. Dana saying Ben Henderson is coming up to the UFC LW division is very interesting to me. Loved seeing Manny dominate as well.

In other news, bloody hell Tito. Seriously, man is a complete ****. Hilarious, pure trash.

Garcia vs Jung was an incredible fight. Greatest stand-up war since Griffin-Bonnar I. Those winging punches Garcia was throwing were just mental. Awesome fight, and a brilliant card. Aldo is a beast (though did the typical Ed Soares-managed fighter move of stepping off the gas in Round 5), Faber has some serious heart and Ben Henderson might be a legit 155'er after all. Interested to see how he goes in the UFC.

As for Tito. It's a little early to judge I think. The pictures of Jenna show no notable injuries, other than a little bandage on her arm, and Tito stated in a press-conference that the only reason he did anything is because she's back taking Oxycontin. Not exactly a surprise to see some controversy coming out of a relationship between a cage fighter and a porn star though.

If Kurt Angle had've started MMA in 2002 then he would've been the greatest of alltime, King Pietersen.

I know I shouldn't rise to this, but there is no way you can guarantee that. Wrestling isn't the be all and end all in MMA (only 2 of the UFC's champions are primarily wrestlers, and only 1 of them was a College wrestler). Sure Angle was a magnificent wrestler and had an incredible work ethic when training for the Olympics, but there is no guarantee he would have been a success in MMA. Brock Lesnar's success has come because his style adapted to Mixed Martial Arts excellently, he's huge, but along with that size has speed, agility and athleticism which allows him to use that size to best effect.

Wrestling on it's own was enough back in the day when Mark Coleman and Randy Couture were dominating, but not anymore, and famously wrestlers don't tend to pick up striking ability quickly. There's no guarantee that Angle's body would have held up either. He wouldn't have been able to rely on painkillers and other forms of drugs that he has been supposedly taking in Pro Wrestling if he moved to MMA, so I doubt at aged 41 he'd still be fighting. If Angle was going to become an all-time great in MMA, he'd have had to have gone into MMA in '97 or '98 after his neck had healed sufficiently after the Olympics. I don't think he'd have had time to develop his game and stamp a legacy if he started in '02. If he'd have started training straight out of the Olympics, and debuted around the same time as Randy, who knows what would have happened. But I don't think he'd have had time starting in '02, given the condition of his body to stamp a legacy on the sport, and any talks of him taking it up now are laughable.

Lots of **** to comment on, a great night apart from one unsavoury fight, but right now all I particularly feel like saying is WAR ****ING SHOGUN!! Such sweet sweet tasty justice, Machida's face was ****ED ahahahaha. First round knockout, can't get any more conclusive than that. I am so stoked right now. Love it, Love Shogun, what a hero.

Stupid stupid stupid by Daley.

But SHOGUN! Man, ****ing awesome display despite coming in underdone. Rampage/Rashad next?

<3 Shogun. Easily Top 5 P4P fighter in the world now. He's going to run through the rest of the division I think.

</3 Daley. What a douche. To out-douche Koscheck is impressive. Deservedly cut from the UFC.
