Venue: Nou Camp stadium, May 1999, commentator Clive Tyldesley. Champions league final is in the 90th minute Bayern Munich lead Manchester United 1-0. United win a throw in deep in the German team's half. The board is held up it reads 3 (minutes of added time): Tyldesley: 'Base camp for a final assault'. And boy WAS it?

I prefer "what a triumph it would be for him if he was still batting at 6 o’clock this evening."

If I had a quid for every time I heard this from Jim Laker: 'four runs before it left the bat.'

Two pearls of wisdom from Howard Wilkinson: 'I firmly believe that if we score one goal the opposition will need to score two goals to win.' And :'I think we will do well over the festive season, especially as Boxing day comes the day after Christmas day.'

Mark Jackson (NBA) has a few goodies, but they've become catch phrases more so than classic calls.

    "Mama, there goes that man!"
    "Hand down, man down!"

Stacey King on Derrick Rose multiple times in his MVP year: "Too big, too strong, too fast, too good!"

Ed Whalen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia was a famous calgarian commentator - he commentated on everything. Famous lines from him was yelling out "MacInnis!!!!!" whenever Big Al took a slap shot on the power play.
In CFL I remember him saying "And Smith is in the clear, they won't catch him. He is running away like he is being chased by the cops!"

Proudly against the bring back Bennett movement since he is injury prone and won't last 5 days.

Clive Tyldesley when after the Sheringham equaliser in the 1999 champions league final:
    "Name on the trophy"

Tony Greig screaming a late 90s Tendulkar innings. "Dancing in the aisles in Sharjah" always stuck out to me. Kinda stupid but definitely memorable.

"Oh the band is out on the field" Don't even watch American football and It's still memorable.

Heavily inspired by Barry Davies but I always loved "and what must Lothar Matthäus be thinking? Well... with the greatest of respect who cares?" in 1999.
