As someone who prefers mountains to flat and would prefer to see breakaways than bunch sprints in classics etc. I'm not too fussed about a sprinter, and would rather pack the team with climbers and all-round men such as Roche and Poulidor, but I might as well have one fast man to mix it with the others, and McEwen was a very fast man indeed.
