Yeah Blanco was my next pick as well. If I was picking an all-time XV, Blanco would be my fullback. Hence I knew it would be too good to be true that he'd be there to pick in the fifth round.

I'll select Ken Catchpole, generally regarded by Australians as their greatest ever halfback. A certain New Zealand halfback who is a Rhodes schollar and is arguably New Zealand's best ever halfback, played against him in 1964 and rated him the greatest ever halfback ever. This same New Zealand halfback has played against Gareth Edwards and rates Catchpole as better. He also compared him to the guy Gareth Edwards rates the best he ever played against, and said Catchpole was better.

There's actually quite a list of people who say Catchpole is the best halfback ever.

Catchpole:
* Played a starring role in New South Wales' win over the Lions in 1959 (the only defeat that Lions side had on Australian soil - also an underrated great Lions side)
* Played a starring role in the Aussies becomming the first side to win two consecutive games on South African soil.
* Played a starring role in the 'Wellington Wonderland' - a game in 1964 where the Aussie gave the All Blacks one of their biggest floggings of the 60s (they lost the series). That was New Zealand's worst loss since their 17-0 flogging in 1928 at the hands of the Springboks. Australia won 20-5. Don't know how much a try was worth by 1964 though. So despite not winning the series, they did tramble over one of the great All Black sides.
* Beat South Africa 2-0 in 1965
* Rallied the Aussies to beat Wales when their odds were 9-2.
* Was called "the greatest halfback ever" by the president of English rugby.

It goes on... some even say he's Australia's best ever player.

This is a real steal for me. I probably could have waited a couple of rounds before picking him, but I had a feeling he'd be a suprise pick by someone. I've selected someone who might be the best halfback ever in round five, while there were people picking Gregan and Farr-Jones ahead of him.

lol Banco was going to be my pick at full as well. Though there a few other full backs that I would be happy with.

BoyBrumby

Englishman
Need someone to win me some ball. Josh Kronfeld fits the bill. Overshadowed slightly by his illustrious predecessor & successor in the black no.7 shirt, but still a magnificent openside.

Francois Pienaar (SA) #6

Got no idea if my side look good, bad or crap. Half the guys I picked have been from reading about them. Have watched this guys play, was a good leader of men. Not as good tactically as Gregan, but we will see.

Bastard

I'll Take a scotsman who captained the Lions twice at fullback

How do we decide who has the best side?

Seems like a stalemate to me.

EDIT: Oh, and Somerset -- Jean-Pierre Rives was an openside flanker, just letting you know in case you choose two 7s.
