They're both protected first rounders though, so it's not like they're going to be good draft picks. Any picks not in the top ten in the NBA draft are generally worthless anyway. Sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time, you get rubbish.

Tell that to Rajon Rondo

Rajon was scouted as a top 10 prospect but GM's were scared off by his inability to shoot a consistent jump shot. Not the greatest call on their parts, but you can't blame them. It's a God-awful stroke.

In any case, there's loads of examples of players who were drafted outside the lottery and became superstars (Ginobili, for one). But for every one you name, I'll give you 50 ones who never did anything but have a solid D-League career. The Magic just traded a top 5 player in the league (arguably top 3) for that crapshoot.

He's right though, they're not totally worthless to the right GM. We got Lawson and Faried well outside the lottery (although Lawson never should've fell that far). But that said even most lottery picks never amount to much outside the top 3 or 4.

It's the flaw with building through the draft, OKC did it well but they lucked out on Durant and Westbrook and Ibaka were very raw and could've gone either way.

Yeah but dude, they traded DWIGHT.****ING.HOWARD. His point is perfectly valid in any trade, except for one where you're trading the best player over 6'9'' in the league and the third best overall.

Everyone knows they got back a poo poo platter as far as return goes. But they were screwed as their only suitors had nothing to give back valuable. Just goes to show how good a job Ujiri and Kroenke did for the Melo deal. The trade was an abortion in general, I'm not even sure what difference Iggy is going to make in Denver, they just allowed Howard to come West and are still first round fodder.

Philly and LA made out like bandits here. Denver did okay but Orlando could've waited and got better from the Nets when Lopez is on the block again.

League Pass now available with early bird fees. Might go for the cheaper option this year.

As a Celtics fan, my heart goes out to him. Pun not intended.

Yeah of all the lottery guys I think he has the highest upside. I don't think he'll ever reach it, but wow if he ever learns how to ball it'll be on for young and old.

What was this CBA for?

James Harden traded as OKC hang on the salary cap gallows designed to clip the big market teams
