Yeah, i've read those quotes, only because i hunted it out. None of them are attributed to my liking though. Having read many a book about Man Utd, its history, the players (and the almost players), a fair few specialising on the Busby era, esp. the 1958 team, the first time i heard this persons name is when i looked it up today. Theres a wiki page with said quotes on it, which is listed as dubious infomation, and offers no source.

Not disputing the players skill, just the quotes seem out of character for the people speaking them, and indeed out of time for me (why talk about the English Pele your watching in 1956/1957?)
I didnt get them from wiki.

They are all accurate as far as I can tell. His links with United and especially Murphy are famous. Im sure you know of Harry Gregg and he speaks of him in the highest terms. In fact the deal with United was so far along the line that this player had recieved a, what would probably now be classed as illegal, payment from Busby of about 4 months wages as a sweetener.

This player was to sign for United pretty much straight after the meaningless England U23 game he played in against France in which he broke his leg aged 17. He didnt play league football for 6 years after the break.

The 'English Pele' was probably used retrospectively.

Fair enough, yeah obv aware of players like Harry Gregg, cant say i've ever heard this guys name mentioned though, can honestly say i've never heard of him. As for the payments, would be illegal now, but its how we got Charlton and Edwards to sign for us as youngsters (believe Wolves were a bit pissy at us nicking Edwards, but Murphy pretty much lived on his parents doorstep till he signed)

As a further clue to anyone (maybe this was harder than I thought). He made his league debut at 15 yrs old.

Poor question then by me. Im a bit suprised as Ive heard his name used outside his local area on a number of occasions and always regarding how amazing he was and as a one in a generation talent.

As I said though, he probably isnt as famous as he was (or should be) and certainly belongs to a different generation.

Answer was Alick Jeffrey

Someone else with a question.

Here's a ridiculously easy one.

Who's the only player to have won the Champions' League with three different clubs?

If that one goes too soon, here's another one.

Of all the football Golden Generations, a certain club went on to sign seven players of this GG.

Name the generation, club, and five of the seven players.

First one was Clarence Seedorf, Ajax in 94, Madrid in late 90's, then Milan twice.

Golden generation is a bit vague there. I mean they called the 98/2002 WC squad Englands golden generation. Only think golden is their Rolex's, press hype that it was.

So are we talking about a genuine group of players that really excelled together before moving to said club? Guessing they must've done something at a national level.......
